I tried this on at the Tiffany''s in SF. I think it is really lovely - do you think it would work as my something blue?

Not sure if I''d want to get it from Tiff''s or not...I might be able to get higher quality or larger aquas for the same price ($1,350) but the savings might be offset from the cost of getting it made custom. Also, it might be hard to match two aquas in color..

What do you ladies think?

PS Total aqua weight is 1.15 ct and the diamond is a 3-pointer...

I LOOOOOOVEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE that necklace! It would be PERFECT as your something blue. I think! I know other PS''ers will tell you to get it elsewhere but I say get it at Tiffany''s!

I''m totally infatuated with that necklace and would get it myself if I had the $$

I say go for it at Tiffany''s!

I think it''s absolutely lovely RZ!

Sorry Dream, but I say get it somewhere else. I''m a bit shocked that 1.15cts of Aquas + .03ct of diamond + metal costs $1,350!!!!

I think you could easily get a cutter to cut two pieces of aqua to way over 1ct each and still have the stones be under $500 together.

I''d really look into getting it made custom.

I know this isn''t either of the cuts of stone, but here''s a 2.07ct aqua princess for $144 from Dan Stair: Link

Or a round from Barry Bridgestock that''s 2.5cts for $188. Link

Is it in silver?

It's lovely! Two thumbs up.

I completely agree. You could have it made for MUCH less than Tiffany (surprise, surprise!) with better quality stones, and you could customize it so it'd be one of a kind.

That''s what I am thinking, Freke. Any good suggestions for where to get the stones from though?? Ack...not my area of expertise.

It is white gold, not silver, but still the price tag is pretty high...

Gorgeous!!

I agree it''s a massive price tag, but for what it''s worth, I tried making earrings for myself using gemstones and while the gemstones didn''t cost a lot, custom making the pieces would have ended up costing me double the store price. Take it to your jeweler and ask how much it would cost to replicate it. The girls in the gemstone board are very helpful, so ask them to help you find some nice stones if the jeweler quotes you a decent price. I cant wait to see you wear it!!!

Um, I would probably email
Dan Stair Link to his site
Barry Bridgestock
Gene at PrecisionGem

And I''m sure they can help you out. One thing to note about Dan''s pictures is that the stones are much lighter on the website than they are in real life. Also, stop by Colored Stones and check out the other websites. We are more than willing to help out! Especially with an awesome project like this one.

For God''s sake woman! Do you want my store to go out of business????!!! (I haven''t even gotten my ring yet..)

rock- Get it at Tiffany

TRUST ME.

I think it''s beautiful but I think you should go somewhere besides Tiffany. Even though I LOVE Tiffany, you could get the same thing for less when you are not paying for the name.

Bah! I don't think you have anything to worry about. Tiffany is a status symbol that people want to have, so really, I don't think they are going out of business any time soon. Even if the economy is in the crapper. Really though, I think RZ can get something almost exactly the same from somewhere else for a less money.

And I have a piece of Tiffany. I understand the appeal of the name. But still...

wow! pretty!

That''s a gorgeous necklace!! I

it! I can''t comment on your questions about finding matching stones or getting it custom, but with the price of aquas in general (cheap) I would think you could do it cheaper by going custom. I''m sure the girls in Colored Stones can help you make something amazing.

OMG, that necklace is GORGEOUS! I''m seriously in love

I think it''d be a perfect "something blue." Freke''s an expert in the area of coloured gems so I totally trust her advice, but FWIW I think if you can afford the pricetag then a Tiffany piece would make a lovely heirloom to be passed on/lent to future brides for generations to come.

STUNNING

I agree it would at least be worth getting quotes to have it made by someone other than Tiffany''s, to see if you can get a lower price/higher quality - I think it will look fantastic with your dress too

haha! Well......it''s true....that''s how I FEEL

I LOVE that necklace! And I agree, go custom if you don''t care if it Tiffany or not. I bet you can get more diamonds if you wanted!

That is a perfect "something blue!"

Dreamgirl, please note that I am NOT weighing in on the Tiffany''s question. ((ducks reflexively anyway))

Gorgeous! I'm with freke and going custom. Then you can even tweak the design to your heart's content!

I think the value of Tiffany (and any other store, for that matter) really comes in when they have something that's of the "absolutely PERFECT and nothing else will do!" variety. That's how I ended up with a Tiffany wedding band - nothing to do with the name (at least I don't think so, who knows where my subconscious mind took me).

So if it's ABSOLUTELY PERFECT AND NOTHING ELSE WILL DO, then get the Tiffany one

Thanks, everyone. I think I will also post in colored stones to get more opinions on the project...

I absolutely adore it. Personally, if it''s the one that you totally love and you can afford it, I''d get it rather than going elsewhere. It''s so beautiful!

Personally, I love the Tiff version. You *could* get bigger/better, but it is a lovely piece and if you can afford it, I would get it there. I am usually a bargain shopper, but I think the custom pricing might make it enough to not be a huge savings.

Keep us posted!

Oh and BTW I think it makes a PERFECT something blue!!!

You could get quotes for custom work, but they may actually approach the price of the Tiffany necklace, especially if you have to get the aquas cut. I''d stick with the Tiff because it''s so easy. It''s beautiful, and it certainly works as something blue!
