What do you think about thir aquamarine? Don’t now anything about coloured stones.

Hello everyone :wavey:
I came across this aquamarine that I think has a lovely turquoise color:kiss2: Is the price too steep. There is no cert provided...

Would be really grateful for advise!
That’s a beautiful aquamarine! It’s a cool cut too! It is expensive, but I was told that aquamarine 3ct. + jumps to $400 per carat for nice gems. I think the price is fair. It’s not in my price range though.

Do you know if this is reputable dealer. I’m a little worried that it doesn’t come with a certificate.
So that i dont end up buying a piece of glass or etc.

I have bought many gems from Gemfix. They are a very reputable dealer. I think you will find that most aquamarines don't come with a lab report.

Gemfix is on the PS vendor list. I purchased a stone from them last week and am over the moon happy. I am not an expert but I’ve read about them on this board so I felt very comfortable making a purchase there.

Thank you for your advice @Poodles4me and @eapj ! What about the other stone from Gemselect. I know they might not be as reputable.
How does the stone look?

I like the stone from Gemfix. They are very reputable, and if you have questions about the stone, Laura provides excellent customer service. Returns with them are handled very well too. I haven’t shopped for an aqua of that size, so can’t speak on the pricing.
I have only purchased from GemSelect once, a set of inexpensive spinels. The colors weren’t as saturated in person as they were in their photos in that case. I ended up sending them back to Thailand, which it’s always nerve racking for me to return something internationally, but there were no problems. I would give them another chance if it were the right stone, but would personally go with a Gemfix first.

Hi,

Please take note of the color difference between the two stones. A more saturated color usually commands a higher price. Both stones show a tint that is greenish. Usually that means no treatments(heat). In aquamarine many people desire a blue color, and heat is used, but from what I can see nowadays, the costs are similar. A saturated blue is often called Santa Maria color. I prefer the more expensive stone. I do have a light aquamarine of seven and a half carats, which I like very much because the crystal is so clean. Color matters. Good luck.

The Gemfix stone is also precision cut, which is a big plus to me.

I prefer the aquamarine from gemfix. I have bought a stone from gemselect in the past. It’s a cute little spessartite I plan to set with a Mali garnet. As far as I know they are fine, but kind of like multicolor in that most of their gems are native cut, so just scrutinize the cut, if that is important to you.
