What do you think of these rubies?

I saw this on eBay and might pull the trigger when they have another site wide coupon. Those are just so short lived, so I wanted to get feedback beforehand. It’s cheap enough but I don’t know enough about rubies to buy them willy nilly. I just haven’t seen them in this purple-y color.

Also, can the setting be shaved down to be lower set and thinner? That’s the main reason I haven’t pulled the trigger.

I’d pass.
The ring doesn’t look particularly well made, the inside back is very messy and one ruby, far left side, isn’t sitting straight.
I also don’t think it will be possible to “shave down” the ring in any meaningful way.
And apart from you not knowing if the rubies are natural, being very dark, once the ring is on your finger no light will reach the gems and they will look almost “black”.
If the vendor accepts returns, you could buy it and see how it is in real life and decide then, though shipping (both ways) will be a non refundable expense.

The real question is: what are you looking for?

Owning rubies? Then certainly pass, these don’t look nice and the ring itself, like Bron said, is not well made.

Mostly a reddish stone band to stack. I saw this one I liked (color wise) too, but I don’t like the setting. I want it to be a channel set.

They’ve got nice stuff! So many pretty reddish colored gems too. There are so many options it’ll be fun to choose!
