I don''t think I''m picturing the silvery blue star with the yellow gold very well... my brain is stuck on a white metal... but... my two cents for the bezel are:

I think the ring is gorgeous but with that particular stone, I think white gold.

I just really liked how the yellow gold brings out the blue of the stone, while the white gold makes it look grayer.

I like it. I think it will look nice in yellow gold.

... yellow looks fantastic

but I'm biased. However I do like that shade of blue with the yellow though the blue stands out a little more too.

ok. that helps my brain out a lot! I think which ever option you go for will look absolutely divine!

I have made the decision on yellow gold, but I''m still looking at mounting options. I want something bold and a bit vintage, but not busy.

I think either works, but I like the white gold a bit more.

Hmm, I could see it. Is there a groove or just airspace between the double bezel?

If you go yellow gold, would you do 14 or 18k?

Here''s another view of the ring. It shows the two separate bezels. I love the airline. I''d probably do 18k yellow for the richness.

I love the design; the airline, the double bezel and even the diamond accents! Where did you find this setting?

vintage ebay piece, melony pino I think.

I think it would look great! I was hoping, when I saw this was your thread, you had another idea for your star sapph, yay! Are you going to have someone on Etsy recreate it?

I think it''s stunning.

Where did you ever find that setting?

Julia Kay Taylor''s pieces are looking very nice, so I will probably approach her. I''ll also bid it out to a couple of respected PS vendors.

Yeah, I think the 18k would look better. This is turning out to be a very architectural piece - the dome will rise over the 2nd tier, right? Very intriguing.

This thread is very educational, as it shows that there really are no rules. Usually when we (the PS''ers) see a lighter blue stone we, by instinct, say white metal. But yellow really does bring out the blue in this one - maybe it''s an exception or something, but it''s true. If this were a transparent, faceted material I doubt yellow would work so well; but then again, there are no rules

= a very nice, very rich look.

I like the YG.
That setting will look fantastic!

Now that I look at the stone with the different color chain, I''m really likin'' the yellow gold!!

That is a tough one..I see what you mean by the gold makes it stand out more but the silver goes with the stone more if that makes any sense..hmmm..tough one I guess what floats your boat is the way to go

You could do the inner bezel in yellow and the rest in white....
