Ok...I''m just curious....I''m not even engaged yet, but am totally obsessed with the dress...mainly because there are so few out there like I want...something with sleeves and no train...preferably a full tulle skirt and lace bodice...no beading...very 50''s....sooooooooo...what does your dream dress look like????

A-line, off-the-shoulder neckline, empire or natural waist. I''d like a chapel train and I love buttons down the back. I don''t want lace, but maybe I''d like a little beading. Something simple and traditional that would be appropriate for a garden wedding. I especially love this one: http://www.ginnis.com/cgi-bin/description.asp?dress=G364ft.jpg. I''d have the neckline opened a little and the train shortened to chapel. But knowing myself, I''ll probably change my mind a million time again before I buy one!! I might find out that I don''t like the style at all after trying it on... Of course, I might end up eloping, in which case I''d go for something in a lighter material and without a train, maybe something like this: http://www.ginnis.com/cgi-bin/description.asp?dress=G896ft.jpg

I''m picky about my dress style too, and I love looking at them!

OOOOHhhhh...very pretty...I had not seen that site before...so of course I had to see if there was anything like what I want...but alas..there wasn''t...I''m worried I''ll never find it...and either have to compromise or spend an arm and a leg having one made...

Ideally-

Mine would be a corset, lace-up, starpless bodice, A-line chffon skirt with a detachable train. In deep lilac/lavender.

Since I can''t find what I want anywhere, I''ll have to make it or have it made. I did try on a dress at David''s that I really liked and amazingly fit the twins, but would only wear it if I could dye it.

Ohh... Interesting. What color are you going to dye it?

If it were possible, the same warm lilac/lavender. I don''t look good in white and it makes my top half look even bigger. I suppose I can if forced with no other choice.

My dream dress is classic with an element of fun. Beautiful fabric to the eye and to the touch...Silk satin. Ivory. Preferably strapless. A-line or slight ballgown (but nothing "poofy").

Duh. Sorry... didn''t read your whole post to realize that you already stated the color you wanted.

I think that would be beautiful!

Have you considered a bridesmaid dress?

No problem!

I''ve ALWAYS been the one to dance to my own music, so I''d love to have the kind of dress that is truly me. I think I was inspired by the TLC show where friends and family put together the wedding for the couple? (don''t remember the name of the show) But this one woman who was a hairdresser had great hair- pink in the front, black in the center and flaming red in the back (something like that) and her bridal party got her a hot pink wedding dress. It suited her perfectly.

Oh NYT - I remember that episode! (I love that show!) You''re right, it did suit her perfectly and it was so unique. I''m sure your dress is going to turn out amazing, whatever you end up doing. I''ve been following your story and know some of the details of what you want for you wedding...it sounds like it is going to be amazing and uniquely you - something which everyone strives for so hard, it just seems easy for you! i love it.

anyway - my ideal dress....i''ll have to think on that one a little more. i love so many different looks and styles i''m sure i''ll wish i could have more than one dress when the time comes

Nyt it was called For better or for Worse.. love that show.

I have thought about a maid''s dress. David''s gives you this little gift bag with catalogs in them and they have a mix and match line for maid dreses. They do have a corset bodice available in Mystic Purple, but it looks a little dark. Not sure if I want the color too dark since it will be nighttime. I''d have to see it in person. That''s only $79 and it would be easy to have a simple skirt made. Only problem would be getting the same dye lot. Yes, I''m making myself crazy

My problem is going to be choosing! I will probably have it made (my friends and family will not allow me to make it myself, for my own sanity! :)

I know I want something with a low V-neck, probably ruched (sp?) or pleated around the middle, and an soft a-line skirt. The top (maybe the whole dress) will have an overlay of either lace, organza, or chiffon. This is a style that I have worn in other forms (coctail dresses, etc.) and I really like it, plus it works with my figure.

Perhaps something like this below, just a deeper V and no sleeves...

PS: Do I get my dream figure to go with my dream dress?!

Ok, I''ve looked too.

I totally agree with you about the sleeves (or at least straps) and no train. Yet it seems like all the dresses are what I call "shiny white whales" complete with a whale tail! I swear I look 20 -30lbs heavier in a strapless dress, and why are they all shiny?? But my biggest complaint is the train thing.
Anyway, whining over.
I found this great site http://www.martinmccrea.com/ with beautiful dresses. For me at least, the prices are very reasonable considering that they use real silk and lace, and it''s sewn here in the u.s. Although they don''t have full skirts, and are a bit more vintage feeling than what you might be looking for.

Wren- Those dresses are beautiful!!!!! So far I have had very little luck...I have found lot''s of dresses that I like the bodice and the skirt...but it has a train or that doesn''t have a train, but is strapless...uuuggggghhhhh...very frustrating!!!
