Monday is also the day Continental Diamond is scheduled to become an official sponsor of Pricescope.

It has taken years for these past ten months to pass. The work has been exciting and rewarding. The waiting has been agony for all of us.

Finally the I’s are crossed and the T’s are dotted. The fun is about to begin.

It is possible a few medium blue could show up. The vast majority will be graded negligible.

We will only cut strong blue for a cut to order. While I personally love a good strong blue, the market is brutally against them.

Since a strong blue, even with no ill effects is heavily discounted, it is not financially feasible for us to stock them.

I much preferred the market back in 1975, when I paid a premium for a beautiful strong blue.

Knowing your love of colors, I think you would too. There is something magic about that glowing pale violetish-blue color when you step out of doors with your colorless diamond.
 
Will continental be recognizing CBI upgrades originally purchased from HPD? At least somewhat?

As you know Wink, after cut quality and its assessment, Fluorescence has been my next biggest field of study.
I do believe the end of fluorescence discounting is close to having run its course.
Already this year Rapaport have lowered discounts on top color clarity diamonds by a point here and there. Still a long way to go to get back to pre 1993, but mark my words.
If you want to get diamonds back in trade ups - start selling string blues!
Edited to add - you sell them for $XYZ, get them back 5 years later and resell for 1.5x$XYZ

Off topic: how likely is it that blue fluorescence could become even more heavily discounted if it becomes perceived as a marker of LGD?

Most consumers know some LGD have blue nuance.

If someone buys an EGD with SBF and it glows blue in the sun, some people might mistake the SBF for blue nuance. If the person who bought the EGD with SBF cares what other people think, maybe they don’t want anyone mistaking their SBF EGD to be a LGD with blue nuance.

In that case the price of EGD with SBF could fall.

Other way around. Blue fluorescence means the diamond is natural.
Only geeks know about boron LGDs

It is an option. It just takes a little planning and the patience to wait for your diamond to be polished to order.

Omg that would be soooo much fun!

I have several eternity bands (band addict here!). This particular one is a CVB Norah. I don’t have a thread on it because making it was a disappointing experience and I’m still not super happy with it despite a remake. I have actually been thinking about resetting it. The stones are gorgeous, though!

The other eternities I have are a HPD eternity I bought preloved which I absolutely adore, and three VC bands which are just fabulousness personified.
 
Will Continental potentially take in a consumer's diamond as a trade toward the new line (depending on cut, of course) as Whiteflash does?

I have to admit that the availability of cut to order strong blues and trade in own stones make my wife’s future upgrade much more promising:)

If it’s not too much or too soon to ask, Will vintage cuts be your plan in short or long term future?

Thank you for asking @Double E. At this time the new branded line we are cutting will be rounds.

However, I believe this is very important. The company I am working for owns millions of dollars worth of inventory that they liked well enough to pay for. They have vetted many different shapes and sizes and can source and vet just about anything on the market.

We will not be hosting a list of virtual diamonds on our site, but rather diamonds we believed in enough to spend our own money on.

So, in answer to your question, nothing is off the table. If you want something we do not currently have, ask. You may find yourself loving the answer.

I was in continental diamond a couple days ago and they seemed super excited about the legacy line! I had a nice chat with one of the sales people and the talked of how Wink is educating the staff and you could tell based on her knowledge he is making a difference! It was nice to have an educated conversation with the staff!! They know all about Pricescope!! I didn’t have time to look at any legacy diamonds but hope to when I go back in a couple weeks to pick up a piece!
