I couldn't figure out what to get my trendy NYC SIL for Christmas, and then I came across these rings that I thought she would love! Awesome!

Then.... yesterday, I was flipping thru the new Marie Claire, and saw that Nina Garcia had picked the exact rings as one of her top 100 gifts must buys! Score!

It's a nice reminder, that eventhough I can't get as trendy as I used to, (eventhough I'd love to!!)... I've still got the eye!

What made you smile this week?

I found out I get to go to the mountains for Thanksgiving.

My kitten and my two dogs are constantly making me smile by loving on me, and "talking" all the time.

I read a story about a horse who's owners thought they could cure "mange" ( it was actually a fungus known as rain rot) by mixing lime and radiator fluid and pouring it over her body. She was severely burned, with hair gone. They had also nearly starved her as it was. A rescue took her in, worked day and night to heal the burns and get weight back on her, and she is now fully rehabilitated with no visual scars on her body.

Zenyatta was Retired.

And last but not least, a good friend of mine is currently in the hospital giving birth to her new baby girl. It was not a planned pregnancy, and they are young so it has been a challenged, but she is so excited to welcome this new little addition to their family, and I am so excited for her!

My husband, by a lucky chance and the thoughtfulness of a friend, got to meet one of the top guys in his very very VERY limited field, and impressed him with his skill and knowledge, plus they got along great. Seeing him so happy made my day, plus this basically guarantees him a job, or at least contract work if (when) we move back to the East Coast.

My FI sent me flowers (we're currently long distance). He even included a yellow rose, which he mistakenly thought was state flower of Texas, but I still think it is adorable. :))

Happiness is having my oldest daughter take over my Christmas shopping for me because I'm not up to it physically this year. She is quick and methodical and does a great job. She will also do the wrapping for me. :appl:

I made a good lamb roast. :praise: I didn't cook until I was 30, and roasting anything seems kind of intimidating...and lamb even more since it wasn't something we ate growing up. But the look on TGuy's face when he ate it said it all...he grew up on lamb roast and it took years before I attempted to do it (because I figured it would never be his mom's lamb roast.) Served it with gravox (aussies will know) and everything. It was just nice seeing him as happy as a kid.

My kid (Amelia, not TGuy) also makes me happy on a daily basis. And I've worked out every day this week so far. Plus it's date night tonight and this weekend girls are taking me out for my birthday...brunch with unlimited champagne.

Yup, all's good!

My kitten has been pretty cuddly in the morning, even though I've woken up late almost everyday this week I just can't resist loving up on him some! I guess it doesn't hurt that he's just beyond adorable even when he hasn't cuddling.

My uncle successfully made it through surgery today. He has lymphoma and it has reared it's ugly head. The chemo he had yesterday caused a major problem and he had to get fluid drained from around his heart. The outpouring of love on our family is a great blessing.

Thanks for sharing ladies! I love hearing other people's good news!

SS- Congrats to your Uncle, I hope his battle gets easier, and sending lots of dust his way.
Pinkstars- I think I would have to pick cuddling over getting out of bed as well! So sweet!
TGal- Congrats on the Roast! I have got to learn to cook soon. Like you, I worry that it won't be good "enough" for my husband. We had dinner at our neighbors house last night and she was raving about her slow cooker. I may have to start with that.
Lyra- What a wonderful daughter!
Selkie- THAT is aweomse! A great week indeed for you and your husband!
DF411- I am going to the mountains this winter as well! Congrats! And new babies are always a blessing, I hope she has a wonderful delivery!

My gato of lovin'. As he's growing more mature, he's totally turning into a love machine! He's cool as he spreads his love equally among the family. Even hangs out with the fish. ;)

MC~ How are your guppies?? I haven't heard anything of them in quite some time.

Hm ... lessee.

- My students were a delight on Wednesday

- I finished a long-term silversmithing project with good results (little silver dollhouse!)

- My jeweler came through bigtime on the fix for my custom piece

- I'm eagerly anticipating getting my first diamond earrings, and quite enjoying being picky about finding exactly the right thing

- I have a full social calender this weekend to make up for the fact that the husband is (sniff!) in Paris this weekend

- I'm looking forward to joining him in Paris for Thanksgiving come Monday!

- Got accepted to one of my favorite conferences.

- Cats, yo. Cats are a daily pleasure, and my new kitten is, like, a whirligig of entertainment (now ask my sedate lady-cat how she feels).

All in all, it's turning out to be a very good week! Knock wood. :rodent:

Shiny, I'm so sorry to hear about your uncle's lymphoma, but very glad to hear the surgery went well. I hope he recovers fully and quickly.

Thank you for the good thoughts about my uncle!

MC~ Oh, guppy production didn't last too long! I bet your DH was relieved!

To celebrate our upcoming anniversary and following a topic discussed on the 24hr thread DH finally bit the bullet and ordered us something special for the bedroom. After 12 years, that makes a girl happy. :))

Wooo! Wahooo! yippeee!!! Review your product and get back to me!!

My husband has made me feel good this week. Wait, that came out wrong. I've had a tough few months and my husband's been amazing through it all. Very, very patient with a not-so-happy camper.

I also received a compliment from my boss today, and it was really nice to hear.

I had a great time with a wonderful friend at the Houston Nutcracker Christmas Market last week and still
thinking about the good food, drinks and of course shop til you drop !

getting most of my Christmas decor up (and cleaning up the mess)

crossing some shopping off my list

having a really nice dinner with H

but Deb's thread regarding her "gift" was pretty awesome, gotta say.

Great thread!

1) It's American Education Week at my kids school. Seeing my kindergarten son and his classmates sing thanksgiving songs was so adorable! Tomorrow it's my oldest son's turn!

2) That my daughter made honor roll again this semester and was voted student of the month of her grade!

3) Realized today that I am 95% DONE with Christmas shopping.

4) Every time I come home my Shih Tzu comes running towards me and immediately flips onto her back for belly rubs, lol.

iLander: Nope ;)) .

SS: I have you to thank. We have been discussing this for about 8 years, never got around to it. It will stay in its box 'till our anni, and I'll send up the bat signal and let you know my out of 10. Thanks for the push - even though you probably had no clue you were giving it. Mwuah!

threadjack over, carry on!

Aww, good hubby!

I got my new fleece in the mail yesterday, the shower curtain I'm basing my bathroom redo on was finally back in stock and I got it ordered last night so it shipped today. I was looking for a pair of boots for London for part of her birthday gift and found the ONLY pair left-they fit her perfect and she's thrilled with them.

I stepped on the scale and it read lower than I expected....just in time for the holidays!
