I'm not sure what the best place to post this is, so please let me know if I should post this elsewhere.
Does anyone have any thoughts on what would be a good price for a custom halo setting? I admit, I am looking to do this on a budget, and I'm thinking I might have some unrealistic hopes. But, the stone I'm planning to buy is not a standard size stone (it's 6.7mm x 4.2mm), so I'm assuming I would need something custom. It doesn't have to be exactly like the ring I posted above, but I would really like a halo and some sort of detailing on the shank. I would strongly prefer not to have a plain shank, and I'm not super interested in just having diamonds on the shank...basically, I really like how the ring above has the milgrain (? - not sure if that's the correct terminology) detail on the shank. It doesn't have to be that, exactly, but I would like something a little different/interesting.
I have no metal preference, but would prefer a white metal. Also, it doesn't have to be diamonds on the halo and shank detailing, though I would prefer for it to be some sort of white/clear stone (I'm thinking white sapphires, maybe). I know there's a lot of different factors that go into these things, but any thoughts on what something like this might realistically cost? I would LOVE to do this for $1000 (or less!), but I'm thinking that might not be possible.
