What is the one piece you'd never sell?

Oh- my- lord that is an amazing setting! So perfect!

God I love that ring too - I didn’t realize the back of the setting was so unique! Who did that one?

These are the 3 I feel I could go a long time and never find anything similar to replace them. The ability to replace the item is the key factor to if I’d ever get rid of something. Loving the item helps too lol. Idk if I had to cut it down to one idk eeeeeek2914543B-4C0F-4440-B909-6901D7EA7A95.jpeg

Oh good the ruby snake one is not in this list. Mwhahhahahaha.

Not counting wedding ring or sentimental pieces… just going by a combination of how much I like something plus how hard it would be to replace…

These days, portrait cuts are not uncommon, and LGD makes them inexpensive, so replacing my portrait cut bezel ring is technically possible… but this one is earth-grown, it is the perfect size to be subtle but still see the flat part, and the setting is pretty. I got the diamond before PCs were easy to come by. So, given that it was a cool find, it is a solid ring, and replacing the exact proportions would be difficult, this ring is way down on the sell list.
Another cutting style I've never seen before! No way to hide anything here! Very beautiful, I love the natural, naked( if you will) beauty of this piece!

Thanks. Goes with everything.

This is a great topic for a thread! It really made me look at my jewellery in a new way. My first thought was that I would never trade or upgrade my wedding set. I have many other pieces that I love and enjoy wearing, but I realised that I have no huge emotional connection to them. On reflection there are only 3 other items that I would never sell.

My Tycoon diamond ring:

This diamond completely has my heart. It was a gift for an important birthday, and is something which was a special find during a weekend away with my husband and daughter. Im in the UK and Tycoons are very hard to come by here, I'm not sure if they are even being cut any more, so if I ever lost it, replacing this stone would be difficult.

Visually it completely captivates me, I love the elongated shape, the symmetry of the unique facet patterns and the fire it produces. The long facets pick up so many sizeable rainbow flashes, more than any other diamond I have owned. And unlike other elongated cuts (eg EC's, Ashoka's) it does not go dark across the belly of the stone, it maintains its white light return at every angle. It even continues to perform when a little grubby so it never disappoints me. I think this particular stone is a very lucky mix of striking facet pattern and proportions that deliver maximum light return. I'm not sure I could ever find a diamond that speaks to me as much as this one, so it is definitely a "forever" diamond.

My unheated sapphire and diamond ring:

The sapphire was another lucky find and I dont think I could find another one with the same colour and cut combination that would speak to me in the way this one does. You cant really tell from these photos, but it is a violetish blue stone and it is my perfect hue. I wouldnt change anything about the ring, I love the E colour ideal cut side diamonds and how the proportions of the 3 stones work together in the ring, plus the presence on my hand.

My diamond star pendant:

I loved this pendant which my husband and I saw in a store whilst we were having a weekend away. A few weeks later it was our 5 year anniversary, and he surprised me with it. Im not easy to surprise but I really had no idea that he had called the store after we returned home and had it posted to a friend to keep me from seeing the package and suspecting anything.

It's my ring that trumps all rings - my 1.19ct E VS1 EC in its forever home.

It makes me happy just looking at it.

These two I could never part with. My grandmothers ring my father and grandfather had made nice her one Christmas long ago, and my halo that I purchased with an inheritance from my father as a remembrance of him.

Great thread question and following convo... I had to think long and hard about it (while enjoying all the fabulous photos!).

I had a difficult relationship with my mother and subsequently sold almost all of her jewelry I inherited - no regrets. My original diamond in my e-ring broke (back-in-the-day I didn't understand how fragile a "very thin" girdle could be, and thank God it was insured for RETAIL value). Since then I've been caught in the never-ending cycle of upgrading, re-vamping, downgrading, re-vamping and upgrading... a story for another thread.

But one piece has remained and always will... the diamond heart pendant my DH gave me two decades ago. I wear it almost everyday and could never sell it; he surprised me with it on our first Christmas together. The quality of the stones is F VVS1-2, excellent cut, with over-the-top sparkle (the photo does not do it any justice). The piece is less than 1 carat, but as the saying goes, "they're just not making them like this anymore"... and my DH, too! :kiss2:GIA_L's heart pendant from G.jpg

These modest pieces with quality workmanship and nice stones never go out of style. You can wear it without worrying and enjoy it knowing it is a special piece from your dearest. We all should have something like this in our collections!

Firstly - my Southern Cross locket - 18kt, .8ctw of white, clean, well cut diamonds, and one of the heaviest pieces I own:

And lastly, my memorial pendant for my dog. Definitely THE heaviest piece I own by a long shot and made up of most of my favorite gold pieces at the time and set with 2 tiny diamonds and one tiny ruby. The heart is 1.25 x 1.25", and the chain is from my best friend and is an antique muff chain, which we split in two and which is incredibly sentimental to us both. I don't know how much this piece weighs, but it has to be substantially heavier than 60gms:

You are very catholic in your tastes.

You are very catholic in your tastes.

Why....thank you?

ETA. Actually, to tell you what I *don't* like - I don't like a collection that's all just diamonds. All my life I've loved color and great metal work the best, so, altho I love things like my Beloved set, I like things like my Joy enamel bracelet better. And I like a wide variety of things - but none of it tizzy or overworked. I like 'clean modern' with the cleanest lines possible, as opposed to antique or highly detailed. I used to love Victorian pieces, but I *really* grew out of that as time passed.

But if I had to put it in religious terms, I'd say I'm fundamentalist - in that there are certain, non-yielding design truths I hold to in jewelry, Calvinist - in that my collection is reformed post PriceScope and predestined (mostly by my budget!), Lutheran - in that, despite how much I try to make my projects work, it's just a case of hoping for the best in the end, and evangelical - in that I want everyone to share my level of enjoyment in jewelry! As for catholic? Sure - why not!
