What is the one piece you'd never sell?

Other than my engagement ring, this is the ring that I will never sell.

I bought it when my dad and brother in law were in poor health. They are both doing ok right now and this ring is now a talisman for me.

I would never sell my family heirloom ring. Most of the diamonds are at least G color and VS clarity, but honestly, I wouldn't care if they looked like frozen spit. The diamonds were greatly loved by the people I love. That makes them the most important diamonds in the world to me.

God I have no idea.

These are the 3 I feel I could go a long time and never find anything similar to replace them. The ability to replace the item is the key factor to if I’d ever get rid of something. Loving the item helps too lol. Idk if I had to cut it down to one idk eeeeeek2914543B-4C0F-4440-B909-6901D7EA7A95.jpeg

This is such an interesting and fun thread!

My original ER diamond was reset as a necklace earlier this year and I don’t think I would sell that even though I WOULD sell the upgraded wedding set. The reason is only half sentimental. On paper, this stone is crap lol It’s a vintage asscher with wide clipped corners and is a 2 ct GIA M SI2. But it’s completely eye clean in its current bezel setting (the grade is due to feathers on/around the border). I would get pittance for it if I were to sell it but there is no way I would be able to replace it at that price (an eye clean genuine old step cut with wide clipped corners).

This is not a “piece” yet as it’s still loose but I don’t think I would ever sell this stone. It just checks off ALL of the boxes for me - 2.42 ct genuine OMC that’s relatively high in color for an old cut (GIA J) with SBF with a chunky crown, teeny tiny table and facets that I love. It will be near impossible to replace with those specs.

Besides original wedding band, this is the one piece I wouldn’t sell, ever.

Who could blame you? This ring is stunning! :kiss2:

I want to so badly contribute pictures to this thread but here’s why I should not : I’ve sold pieces that I had said I would keep as heirlooms only bc I found better iterations of them—never-ending upgrade it seems. The trouble is, I don’t usually go looking for the upgrades—I come upon them and then realize it, lol. So although right now I think I have many, many pieces I would never sell, they are just a possibility away from being sold. It would be fun, tho, to include pieces and revisit in the future. So with that in mind—here are my top few.

Thank you!!! It's in the safe, but I'll try to get it out tomorrow and take a few more pics. In the meantime, here's an old pic in the next post. It wouldn't attach.

What a great thread topic! I've enjoyed reading the thread!

To @HS4S_2 and @yssie : It gives me great pleasure to see the beautiful CVB/AVR ring and the VCA lapis bracelet shown here! They are good examples of pieces I TRULY LOVED but let go because they weren't being worn. I am so happy both went to good homes that love and appreciate them!

To @MissGotRocks : Your collection is closest to what is truly ME! People might be surprised by that because I have collected a bunch of other stuff, but really, I'd be totally happy with a wedding set, a 5 stone ring, diamond studs, and a diamond pendant (probably just a solitaire in my case). A nice watch and maybe a diamond bracelet could top it off!

So because of what I just said about having a very basic, classic diamond collection, there's almost nothing I wouldn't sell if I thought my daughters wouldn't wear them down the road. I only have one heirloom piece which was a diamond that had been passed down from my great grandmother to my mother which I had recut and reset into a pendant by CVB. So it is the only piece I can 100% say that I woudn't sell, even though it is not near the top of my most worn, valuable, or favorite pieces. It's the one on the left. The one on the right is far more beautiful and original, by CVB, also.

You're welcome! That's very kind of you to say.❤

Hard to say! But I think these earrings, I probably won't.

Paraiba cabs with diamond halo, made by DK. Worn for a very special occasion. They are big, about 18 mm or so. 3.89 carats of diamond weight, G/VS. The cabs are almost 2.6ish each I think.

I have another pair of earrings that I need a photo of, but they are Victorian old mine clusters, centers are 1.5 each and about another 1.5 in the halo cluster each I think. Those would be hard to replicate.

Good lord, I love those.

I've never seen an emerald cut like that before! Yowza!

Me either. It's a mesmerizing stone whose personality changes a lot depending on lighting. I purchased it preloved from the OP.

I'm assuming it's a fancy yellow. My experience with colored diamonds is limited. I have one stone, faint yellow, maybe considered a cape diamond. It's a pretty stone, just not very dramatic. But I recently found a small blue that goes from ice blue indoors to an almost sapphire outside. It's pretty amazing!IMG20221004214309.jpgIMG20221001121425.jpg

Not counting wedding ring or sentimental pieces… just going by a combination of how much I like something plus how hard it would be to replace…

These days, portrait cuts are not uncommon, and LGD makes them inexpensive, so replacing my portrait cut bezel ring is technically possible… but this one is earth-grown, it is the perfect size to be subtle but still see the flat part, and the setting is pretty. I got the diamond before PCs were easy to come by. So, given that it was a cool find, it is a solid ring, and replacing the exact proportions would be difficult, this ring is way down on the sell list.
