What is the real inflation rate?

I know for a fact that those on a fixed income are really hurting right now.
The goverment is fudging the numbers so that SS dont have too pay out more:

two iimporant items aren''t included in the government calculations....and one of them is the price of gas. for the life of me i can''t remember what the 2nd one is. by eliminating the two, it skews the numbers greatly.
