6808B17F-C6E2-4E24-AAEE-6B1FB8C4892F.jpeg Y’all are so good at this! I thought I’d post my necklace here. My dad and stepmom go to Argentina periodically to visit my stepmom’s parents. They always are kind enough to bring me back treasures like ruanas, handmade handbags and of course jewelry. After fulfilling my rhodochrosite request, they brought me back a necklace, but I couldn’t identify the stone and neither could they. My guess is chrysocolla (however you spell it), but I’m not sure. Could you help me out? I’m just curious.

Looks like an opaque Emerald to me. Argentina is close to Brazil which is an emerald producing country so it is possible for some stones to trickle down to Argentina.

I had not thought of that possibility. I had never seen anything like it when they gave it to me. Apparently, the craftsman told my dad what is was, but he didn’t write it down and forgot.

I don't know what it it, but I think its lovely!

I would guess a blue/green beryl ( same crystal as emerald and aquamarine), or a blue tourmaline.

Any chance of being an amazonite? Just guessing :)

After reading your guesses, looking through what I have, and browsing the internet, I think I concur with The amazonite guess Burmesedaze had. I am the worst photographer on PS, so I know my photo didn’t give you guys the best clue. Thank you so much!

Neat necklace!
And before I read your post thouroughly, my immediate thought was gemmy chrysocolla(:
