Well, there''s reality and there''s dream-land...

Reality:
Hopefully an e-ring!!!!
emotion-5.gif

Dream-land:
E-ring
Diamond studs (hopefully at least 1ctw)

I have a feeling if there''s an e-ring this year, there won''t be too much else...but I''m sure like Mara said, where there''s a will there''s a way...Maybe I can finagle some small sparklies for my b-day or the holidays...

I''m going to have to bow out of my 2006 wish list this year, because my husband and I are expecting!
26.gif

Although I crave the gems, I''m going to have to go on a year long fast
8.gif
specially so we can save up for a bigger/newer vehicle. We''re thinking honda odyssey right now.
So out with jewelry goals, in with new(er) car goal. We are both not car people, so not as much fun, but necessary.
Since I realize I''m not going to get that whiteflash semibezel pendant anytime soon, went ahead and bought myself a cz bezel pendant necklace just so I have SOMETHING to wear when warm weather and lower necklines come around. I know I will get that necklace sometime, just not this year.

Congrats on your pregnancy!!!

And don''t worry....next year there''ll be MOTHER''S day for gifts too!!!

Kidding of course.....sort of.

Oh that''s wonderful news!
ps- I got the 2006 Odyssey in October and just love it. I highly recommend it)

Last year was a pretty big diamond/jewelry year for me: I received about 3 Tacori wedding sets... (LOL)

I got a 5.2 carat wg tennis bracelet, 1 tcw shared prong hoop earrings, a .55 carat solitaire necklace to replace my lost (and then soon afterwards found) pendant (old one wasnt ideal anyway
31.gif
), 0.8 tcw ready set go studs from WF, wg hoops from Tiffany, and the Tiffany open heart small pendant. Plus, in January of 05 I upgraded my 1.07 round from my e-ring to my 1.52, so I highly doubt DH will approve of anything this year, although I would LOVE a 5 stone shared prong band for my right hand. Prob have to wait til the 5 year anniversary for that.

I have a car goal, but I will have to live vicariously through you all on the jewelery end I am sure...

Ok, I admit. I broke down and needed a diamond fix, although I said I wouldnt be getting any. I have always wanted a three stone pendant, and so I now have one. .55 tcw in white gold. Rats, I have no self control

Have you posted a picture of ALL of these treasures?!?

Well...I considered looting all my savings accounts and seeing if I could pur together enough cash for the tennis bracelet I have wanted for years. If I do not get the bracelet style picked quickly and get a price quote for it and the diamonds soon, however, I am likely to spend any discretionary money on Gurhan gold bangle bracelets instead.

It is easier for me to buy smaller items than to get money together for a bigger one. That''s just the truth. If I spend the money on bangles, I won''t be getting the tennis bracelet anytime soon!!!

So it''s Wink (who is selling me at least the diamonds for, but preferably all of the tennis bracelet if I get one) verus Bill (who sells me most of my Gurhan jewelry)!!!

My daughter is going to be going to private school. If I don''t borrow from accounts I started for her, I cannot possibly get the tennis bracelet I want under any circumstances! And I am not settling. I had a tiny, ugly tennis bracelet once. I''d rather have none than have one I do not love!

Thanks Fire Goddess, and Sevens Ones (I know you REALLY need a minivan!).
I''ve never bought a new vehicle, think they are too expensive. We''ve paid off all the credit cards, and will have 6k to put down. I was intending on spending 8K on a car so it will be completely paid before the little critter comes, but Mom wants me to get a newer vehicle with less miles on it. However it is hard for me psychologically to spend alot on a car, I''ve never had a car payment. I guess we will have to see how much we can get for our initial price, and adjust from there. I have seen the small honda oddysseys (pre 99) go for around 8K, but of course the 2000 and up ones are much more (14Kand up).

AGBF I totally know what you mean, it is much easier when a little money is saved to get something immediately, rather than wait for big purchase.

I will live vicariously through all of you on your jewelry purchases!

AGBF, I know exactly what you mean about not wanting to settle for a less-than-what-you-want tennis bracelet! I love tennis bracelets, but they have to be ridiculously big and honking to catch my eye and give me the tennis bracelet bug. And that''s just out of reach for me. I''m having so much fun with the bangles I had made! It was definitely my best diamond project ever (except for the e-ring upgrade, of course.)

No diamond goals for me this year, unfortunately. I''m quitting my job in June so I can finally finish my Masters. I''ve been procrastinating at that for too long, and it''s hard to take courses and work full-time, especially for a whiner like me. Plus, I''m just burned out. I''ve been teaching 3rd grade for 8 years now. I''m just more than a little tired of the same stories, same science labs, same vocabulary words, math chapters, etc. etc. etc. Time for a change.

For this year, just a custom-made e-ring at a local jeweler. Already in progress, and should be done by the end of March.
9.gif

I want one of those diamond circle pendent necklaces. I''ve already requested it for my birthday in April.
31.gif

I've already spent my money for this academic year on inexpensive akoya pearls from various places, diamond studs, as well as a diamond solitaire wrap from helzberg.

Major purchase for August/september 2006:
real aa-aaa mikimoto pearls 18 inch strand-- the ones at bailey banks and biddle or IW marks, looking at 3-4k

pawn shops / estate finds/ salvation army finds/ rehabilitated jewelry /unwanted jewelry
I want a used marquise 1-2 ct stone. i will know it when I see it.
I want a cape colored 2 ct heart for a pendant
maybe i will find the pearls at an estate sale

mad money:
dangly white gold diamond earrings tension set "sirena" brand at sears
zales lab pink sapphire/white sapphire white gold ring
zales matching lab pink sapphire white gold heart pendant

sell my orange padparasha collection, my onyx, opal doublets, and my citrines to help finance the pearl endeavor.

An update, but not on jewelry. But- we bought a vehicle! It''s a 2001 Honday Odyssey, a "Honda certified" one from a dealer, so more money than we were originally thinking but better for our piece of mind since it has all its service records, etc. Since we know where our money will be going for the next 2-3 years probably won''t be posting as much but you know I will be lurking!!!

ps- recently purchased demantoid garnet (I guess I should have said in my wish list demantoid or tsavorite garnet to set into pendant -but thought demantoids out of price range). If I keep it I would like to set it into a pendant necklace to wear, I''m leaning towards 14 or 18k yellow gold, depending on how the color of the stone looks in person (yes, I''m one of those people who think emeralds should be set in high carat YELLOW gold NOT in white metals)

.

My goal this year is I would like a new diamond engagement ring for our 25th anniversary coming up in September. My old diamond was .48 ctw. and I just had that made into a half bezel for a pendant. I also am debating whether to treat myself to a five stone diamond band from WF as a RHR. I have held off on that, because I''m beginning to think maybe I would prefer a colored stone ring. I dunno. So much jewelry, so little time. (and $$ lol)

Fingers crossed if I am a good girl an Omega watch, not really jewellery I suppose but it does have DIAMONDS

https://www.pricescope.com/community/threads/what-is-your-2005-diamond-goal.23276/

What is/are your 2006 diamond or jewelry goal or goals???

Mine:
1) Diamond hoop earrings, .50ctw or 1ctw...not sure yet
2) 2c+ ring upgrade and new ring head (maybe custom!)
3) ~.75c solitaire diamond pendant in a 3 prong setting

Happy New Year!!!

Hi Mara,

When you said an upgrade to 2c+ my brain went into orbit. I know you have a J color now...What kind of spec would you be looking for?

I hope you will share the selection process with us ?

Bloody hell.....I think I might need to get out more ....LOL

Blod
35.gif

Oh I''m a little sneaky now with my selections...but we''ll see, maybe I will give PS some details before the big event!! I am definitely getting another J SI and hope to be around 2.35c so I can be a diamond twin to my fellow upgrade crazies Dem and Lynn!
9.gif
I''m looking at around early spring, so we shall see!!
2.gif

Hmmm Did Miss Mara know about the stone she is getting in May back in JAN??? How long have you been holding out????

And Miss Lorelei- Watches count as jewelry, that is why the nice ones have bracelets instead of bands.

I want a smaller pair of diamond studs, my current ones are to big and I feel uncomfortable in them.
I want the running charm V said he would get me when I was able to run 5miles with him again...
And most imporatnly I want my ering back!!!
39.gif

Hee hee Mat!!!

DF that has thrown a spanner in the works, that Patek Phillipe is GORGEOUS!!

That has definitely complicated matters in my mind but it won''t with Hubby''s wallet as I don''t think I have been THAT MUCH of a good girl to deserve that heavenly watch

39.gif
Unless my dear sweet American BF you might like to BUY it for me?????

Goal
1. Diamond Hoop Earrings - 1.54ctw
2. Pearl necklace and bracelet

I finally met the goal #1 last Sunday 4/2 since I've been eyeing the hoops at my jeweler since Feb. Unfortunately she sold the original pair I saw, but she is making me a brand new one with better diamond and $80 less because she said she disapointed me since she forgot she sold that pair when DH called her. Now I am just waiting and waiting. Should be done next week.

It's actually a make-up gift from DH because I total my car in an accident and we got a great deal on new car, so DH told his uncle and his uncle wants to buy the same car, then I was complaining about DH taking my "new car" moment away from me since I have to share the moment with his uncle. DH says that he will buy either the earrings or a LV purse to make up for it, so I choose the earrings.

Goal: have my 3.56 ct RB set into a Leon Mege 3-stone creation. Should be attained by end of April, I hope.

Unrealistic dream: also own a 4-5 tcw asscher shared-prong eternity ring.
20.gif
It''ll never happen. At least not for 5 years, at least.

2006 Goal: .50ct ideal cut eye-clean diamond for my engagement ring. Where I come from, that''s a LOT. But I might get it. Keeping my fingers crossed...
2.gif

I''m thinking about spoiling myself with .50 ctw martini three-prongs studs and a .33ct three prongs pendant for my wedding jewelry in a couple of years... PS has definitely corrupted me. I am now a diamond addict in a "who cares about diamond?" environment.

tell hubby it''s only about 12,000 pounds

sounds a lot better than $21,000 USD.

this is the first i seen PP put this kind of complications into a ladies mechanical watch.

After back-to-back purchases last year I didn''t think there was anything I could want. I wasn''t hankering for anything and even my husband was getting kind of concerned that I wasn''t dropping any hints. That''s until I saw the Kimora Lee Simmons Hello Kitty line at Neiman Marcus in Palo Alto. It''s not exactly practical but the pink and yellow sapphires with white diamonds makes it very whimsical and sweet. I love the large necklace and the ring (like I need another ring). I also saw the Judith Leiber Hello Kitty Minaudiere in Las Vegas which I passed on and am kicking myself.

oohhh, I have LOTS of dreams....

*diamond toe ring like Mara''s
* WF earrings...not sure whether RB or princess- 1 carat each
* WF pendant...to match the earrings
* 1-2 carat Asscher RHR

Well alot of my goals for this year's jewelry have already been accomplished...hubby says I've spent my jewelry allotment for the next few years
38.gif

This is what I've done thus far in 2006:
Reset my original e-ring
Bought an ideal cut RB
Received a round channel set eternity band

The only other thing I would like is a pink and blue sapphire necklace. I don't like the traditional mothers necklaces so I thought about getting a necklace with one pink and one blue sapphire to represent my daughter and son. But that will probably be late in the year. My mothers day will be spent in Las Vegas (hubby is going to be there for a bachelor party while I'm there sunning with my sister) so that is already my present...maybe for Christmas he'll buy me my necklace???

This has been a good year with jewelry.

1) Engagement ring - accomplished, very happy.
2) Keeping e-ring sparkly turned out to be difficult. Having lost the battle with soap residue build-up after only a week, purchased an ultrasonic cleaner.
1.gif

3) Wedding ring for him - ready to order.
4) Wedding ring for me - my next project!
9.gif

Coming on top of the 6ctw tennis bracelet I got in 2005, I think no more jewelry for a while....
31.gif

Got a pair of Martini set ACA earrings which I doubted would ever happen as Hubby is not big on jewellery. I think I am done though I would love to reset my m-in-law''s .25 into something... someday...
Lisa

Oooh, I always say one should have a goal, nay, PURPOSE in life! This is as good as any! Thanks Mara!

Ok..my goals...I would consider myself lucky to get up to #2 this year...I know #1 is only a few hours away.

1) Reset/restyle my wedding ring (almost complete, just waiting for them to open to go retrieve my new bauble)

2) .5 to .7 RB diamond pendant, semi bezel set in wg.

3) Tennis bracelet (but not a traditional one, it can be delicate or not, as long as its wg)

4) Diamond RHR...something art deco perhaps? OEC, OMG, Fay Cullen -esq..perhaps a sapphire thrown into the mix.

5) WG diamond hoop earrings

6) Pave "earring jackets" so my 1ctw diamond studs match my new ring (but removeable so I have options).

That should keep DH busy for a few years!!!!

Part Gypsy: OOOH Congratulations! Babies are better than Baubles anyday.... (but I still love my sparklies!)

My good friend is expecting #3 and just got a Honda Odessy...gotta say, I''ve always snubbed the minivan, but that thing is hella cool. Very nice and she loooves it.

Hey Divergrrl - thanks for the comments. Yes, never did car payments before but baby will be here before then. We have a 3 year old daughter plus our big ol'' chow mix we take on trips, so it was time. Though our toyota camry station wagon has stood us very well (the thing runs like a top), the new vehicle is just so nice and solid with so much more room, hard to believe it''s really ours.
Yeah, owning a minivan has a certain connotation, but having this vehicle, I''m down with minivans.

I received the demantoid garnet and I LOVE LOVE it! Walking from inside to out it becomes a almost pure green with blue background. In most lights it has a lighter green with great dispersion, with orange and yellow and blue flashes. It is really is quite mesmerizing. Now that I''ve seen it, when/if I can get around to setting it, not sure if it will be yellow metal now, thinking a neutral (white) metal would show off the actual color and dispersion better.
