What is your 2006 diamond or jewelry goal(s)?

2006 Goal is an upgrade per se for my anniversary. When we first got engaged and started looking for rings I fell inlove with a gorgeous 2.26 RB, but at that time (hubby had just finished law-school) it wasn''t in the cards so I chose the diamond I currently have and adore. Well it so happens that now hubby can afford the original stone, so we are going to upgrade b4 August!!! I actually think I am going to look at modified brilliant cushion cuts as a possible upgrade instead of RB...a bit more bang for the buck and go up to a 2.5 instead? it never ends, ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!

2006 Diamond Goal (yes singular)

1) e-ring - Thinking this one will come true. Be interesting to see what he picks in the end.

2006 Diamond Desires, future goals:

1) flower cluster pendant from WF

2) .25 twc studs. - or flower studs but probably too expensive.

I''ll probably get the earrings for myself for my wedding in 2007. Although if I make enough wistful noises about it, probably a family member will give me a pair. ... either as my something new or something old. It''d make a great excuse for the donating female member of my family to get a diamond earring upgrade.

Funny though, I''d never buy myself the pendant. It just feels like it should be a gift with emotional signifigance behind it. I''d love my beloved to give it to me as a present someday to replace the wooden heart he gave me. (of course I''ll still keep it since it''s the first piece of jewelry he gave me) Although with the e-ring this year and the w-band next, I''ll probably have to save that wish for a future anniversary!

Well I got a diamond pendant last month, I do want princess studs (around .75cttw) somewhere down the line but it''s not a priority right now... BUT my biggest want is a shared prong or bezel set RB eternity band wedding ring. I am so bad and picked out the wedding ring early (Tiffany etoile) but it was/is a little big (got it 1/2 off at an Estate seller) and now I am really wanting the classic eternity band anyway. Also I havent decided if I want to change my plain WG ER setting from a "tiffany style" 4-prong to a wider platinum contour setting (more substance and better with the etoile but thinner band makes the diamond bigger.. hmm??

)

I think for this year I would be extremely content with a thin diamond wedding band for my e-ring.

My FI just wants us to get plain platinum bands but I really liked the proportions of a very small diamond band at Tiffany that I wanted GOG to replicate using small H&A diamonds. So I asked him if he can combine it into my birthday/graduation from law school present. If I had to pick another thing it would probably be 1ct total H&A earings (I'm working my way up slowly

ivanadiamond, I''m so excited for you! Have you started looking yet?

I have always and FOREVER wanted a classic tennis bracelet, around 2-3tcw in yellow gold. Over the past few years I''ve collected pieces to tide me over, that I really love and have spent a lot of money on (I''ve only bought pretty substantial pieces ''cos having small bits''n''pieces taking up precious room in my jewellery box irritates the bajeebers our of me

). I''ve pretty well finished my original diamond wish-list (diamond studs, diamond hoops, diamond solitaire pendant, diamond bangle, 3-stone RB Ering, split wedder, diamond toe ring... of course
41.gif
, and diamond RHRs for middle and ring finger)... fortunately I''ve run out of limbs!!

2006 is the time to acquire my dream tennis bracelet, which is on layby

I''m working so hard to pay it off and it will be incredibly rewarding when I DO get it!!!

I''ve already spent my money for this academic year on inexpensive akoya pearls from various places, diamond studs, as well as a diamond solitaire wrap from helzberg.

Major purchase for August/september 2006:
real aa-aaa mikimoto pearls 18 inch strand-- the ones at bailey banks and biddle or IW marks, looking at 3-4k

pawn shops / estate finds/ salvation army finds/ rehabilitated jewelry /unwanted jewelry
I want a used marquise 1-2 ct stone. i will know it when I see it.
I want a cape colored 2 ct heart for a pendant
maybe i will find the pearls at an estate sale

mad money:
dangly white gold diamond earrings tension set ''sirena'' brand at sears
zales lab pink sapphire/white sapphire white gold ring
zales matching lab pink sapphire white gold heart pendant

sell my orange padparasha collection, my onyx, opal doublets, and my citrines to help finance the pearl endeavor.
update: i just picked up the dangly tension set earrings from sears out from short layaway. this is an inexpensive experiment to see if i am indeed allergic to white gold. they are "fashion earrings" so i will allow for pricescope derision. the diamonds are quite junky K - I-1s. . sparkly, though.

On a silly note...my goal for 2006 is for my darlin-cute boyfriend to pop the question...and when I finally get over the "anxiety" of being engaged I’m hoping to save for a 0.75ct pendant diamond neckl. or 2.5tcw diamond bracelet...yes, it’s a BIG DREAM!

Ladykemma, I like the Sirena style too! It''s like a modified semibezel style, like a ribbon wrapping around the stone.
I bought the pendant necklace, and had the diamond (12 points?) replaced out with a whiteflash ACA stone. I think it is just right for a little sparkle around the neckline. The only thing I found out after wearing it is the pendant slides say left on the chain, but not right, so the clasp always ends up where the pendant is. This drives me crazy so much I almost never wear it, which is a shame.

me too! i looked at the sears and reeds catalog for a long time and kept turning back to that page. i admired the ribbon look. This is my entry level venture into white gold, to match the canterbury junk store ring.

i bought the long ones - pendant and earrings. the earrings are 20 points each and the pendant is about 20 points. the earring stones are passable, but i should have looked more carefully at the pendant. I have loads of used stones to switch out if needed. The K color is pretty laughable.

but I need to make sure i don't have the white gold allergy -- that's why i didn't buy expensive.....also i am not sure i like white gold.

have you tried a jump ring on the pendant?

doncha just love layby? here we call it layaway. i feel like I''m working towards a huge goal. and rewarding when we actually get to take the pieces home.

Well, my only real goal was my e-ring and I already got that. So, now maybe some small studs or a nice watch.

OOOH- do you have any pics of the band you want to replicate?

I have a princess solitare as well, and am debating my band options. FI wants plain plat, but I''m really leaning towards a half eternity. But a thin one (around 2.5mm) to match my ering. Most of the ones I''ve seen are well over 3mm
