I love seeing everyone''s goals of new baubles (or goals to NOT buy new baubles!!

)....keep em coming!

Kayla...FK did talk to me about her earrings, but I think that I may need a smaller pair also in terms of wideness, maybe .50ctw or .75ctw as I want them for daily wear as well and don''t want them to be too large....so we''ll have to see what happens. Hope she gets lucky on eBay!!

What is/are your 2006 diamond or jewelry goal or goals???

Mine:
1) Diamond hoop earrings, .50ctw or 1ctw...not sure yet
2) 2c+ ring upgrade and new ring head (maybe custom!)
3) ~.75c solitaire diamond pendant in a 3 prong setting

Happy New Year!!!

Hi Mara,

When you said an upgrade to 2c+ my brain went into orbit. I know you have a J color now...What kind of spec would you be looking for?

I hope you will share the selection process with us ?

Bloody hell.....I think I might need to get out more ....LOL

Oh I''m a little sneaky now with my selections...but we''ll see, maybe I will give PS some details before the big event!! I am definitely getting another J SI and hope to be around 2.35c so I can be a diamond twin to my fellow upgrade crazies Dem and Lynn!
9.gif
I''m looking at around early spring, so we shall see!!
2.gif

I know it will be stunning Mara.
30.gif

.30-.50 solitaire diamond pendant
small petite peridot ring for right hand
I''m trying to only buy necessities this year (trying to save money which is super hard - I''ve been watching Suze Orman and think I should get on the fiscal responsiblity bandwagon) so this will be it. Unfortunately these don''t fall into the necessities category but I still want them!!! However the higher cost of everything lately has me bummed (heating oil, electricity, gas, my house taxes, etc....) Seems like everything is going up except our salaries! So less money to spend on luxuries unfortunately.

Mine are similar, except for for the hoop earrings. I''m a diamond stud type of girl.

1) I am hoping to convince dh to get my 10 year anniversary 2+ct upgrade early (4 years early....) because of diamond prices, and also because our stocks are doing so well!
2) I plan to reset my 1.12 rb into a pendant if I get my upgrade.
3) Reset my princess cut as a rhr....recent pix of princess halos are really getting my mind rolling....

...maybe ....just maybe... I''ll actually get my ears pierced in 2006.
39.gif

Well...after reading the 2005 thread, I was going to suggest that! But I am afraid I will believe it when I see it! You are a hard case, just as I was! I did it at 48. How old are you now?

I would be happy with:
A Royal Asscher
A Tiffany "ornate legacy" style ring
The 7.04 carat Windex color Tanzanite I''ve been drooling over since July.

my goal this year is to live vicariously through all of you, as med school is not exactly the right time to spend money on new bling sadly.

(and set my new little demantoids that i ought not have bought into a martini stud setting!)

For some reason I am jonesing for colored stones now, but I still have hope for an upgrade sometime in the near future. Don't know if that's going to happen because FI is the sentimental kind and is upset that I'm thinking about an upgrade so soon...
7.gif

1. Sapphire halo RHR with .50 center stone (I cant' get any bigger because it'll overwhelm my finger)
2. Diamond hoops prong set (size of a quarter, have to figure out how many carats that is)
3. Pink sapphire ring
4. Stop buying sparklies and save $$$

Well, I have a list...if I didn''t, you''d know I''d died!!

1. I''d like to reset my sapphire....Mark Morell, maybe?

2. Still coveting earrings with interchangable dangles...

3. I''ve been collecting/taking pictures of things in nature that match my gemstones. Yesterday these crazy mushrooms popped up near my house, and now I''m thinking I "need"
20.gif
a bright yellow gemstone to match!

Yeah, I don''t know if I have it in me.
39.gif
If I follow your time line, I have two more years.
39.gif

I''ve been thinking hard...there are so many things I want, but will be unattainable this year because we need to buckle down and save save save!!! The only thing I''m allowing myself to aspire to this year is a diamond bracelet...not a tennis bracelet but more of a delicate, vintage, art deco type bracelet of wg interspersed with diamonds.

3.gif

Last year was a pretty big diamond/jewelry year for me: I received about 3 Tacori wedding sets... (LOL)

I got a 5.2 carat wg tennis bracelet, 1 tcw shared prong hoop earrings, a .55 carat solitaire necklace to replace my lost (and then soon afterwards found) pendant (old one wasnt ideal anyway
31.gif
), 0.8 tcw ready set go studs from WF, wg hoops from Tiffany, and the Tiffany open heart small pendant. Plus, in January of 05 I upgraded my 1.07 round from my e-ring to my 1.52, so I highly doubt DH will approve of anything this year, although I would LOVE a 5 stone shared prong band for my right hand. Prob have to wait til the 5 year anniversary for that.

I have a car goal, but I will have to live vicariously through you all on the jewelery end I am sure...
39.gif

Rats. I''m a big ol'' party poop-cicle. It''s shaping up to be a challenging year financially with my fiance''s job change (to University vs. Cororate), our wedding/honeymoon, and a certain Land Rover dying over the holidays which means a quick, pre-warranty end trade-in/some kinda new/used/non-deathtrap ride in the spring.

I floated an Asscher eternity band by the honey & his only response was "How much?". 5K. No way. Maybe for an anniversary sometime way, way in the future. It''s just not in the cards as a W-band. That''s OK though. I''m not really an "upgrade" gal when it comes to my e-ring. So the Eternity band can be my "one day" wish. With the real wedding band probably a platinum engraved band similar to the engraving on my e-ring.

Glad I have YOUR new sparklies to look forward to in 2006!

(especially Mssalvo''s Daniel K cushion!!!!)

Oh you silly girls who are so sure you will not buy or build anything jewelry related in 2006!!! We know better don''t we?? You aren''t PS addicts for nothing! Look at my right hand eBay purchase, I surely was not going to be spending $2k on something like that for another year or so, and I got it for about 1/8 of the price....and now that RHR wide band want is crossed off the list. Where there is a will there is a way!!
5.gif

Widget I love those mushrooms, what a beautiful color!!

This is a year for fiscal austerity for us as well, it''s supposed to be anyway.
2.gif
But I told dear hubby that we could talk about that After April, aka after the upgrade (ATU)....the other 2 wants on my list are small potatoes compared to that upgrade, why oh why are diamonds so expensive?
39.gif

I''d love a pair of martini set studs or a diamond pendant!

This is the year I will lose those unwanted pounds so I''m planning on rewarding myself once I reach my goal.

Otherwise I''m hinting for valentines day or wedding anniversary............

My wedding band is my major jewelry goal for 2006, but who knows there may be a thing or two in the works already.

Mara,
Fortekitty is selling her Bluenile pave set 1 ctw. diamond hoop earrings, why don''t you just buy hers. I think they retail for $1050 and I remember you were interested in the same pair from BN last year or the year before. I think she is selling for $600 or less.
Just a thought!
2.gif
Thanks for thinking of me!!
1.gif
I actually thought of Mara too, so i offered her first dibs before eBaying.
2.gif

I''m probably going to list it on eBay after my Mammoth trip, so it''ll be up sometime after next monday. Since eBay charges so much in fees, i''m probably not gonna sell for less than $650 or so. If they sell, they sell. If they don''t, oh well! I''d much rather give them as gifts than lose money.
3.gif

I NEED to set my diamond between sapphires this year. No more procrastinating.
I would like an oval diamond ring around .9-1ct, but that may be out of my budget this year.
Other than that, i dont think i have any more jewelry goals. I''m pretty satisfied with everything I have!
1.gif

Oooh! Fun topic!

For me, I plan on getting my wedding band, half eternity to match my E-ring from Whiteflash.

Possibly an upgrade to a bigger stone. Mine is .55 right now and I''d like to go bigger.

We should start a thread of all the things we SHOULD be spending our money on besides diamonds. My list would be:

1. put it into a savings account
2. saving for graduate school
3. down payment for a new house
4. new couch
5. improvements to my current house

My future diamond jewelry is more important than all that, right???
28.gif

for diamonds, i''m 99.9 percent sure that 2006 will be strictly bench-warming for me! I wouldn''t be averse to changing the roval setting..this ring is still a bit too "Viva Las Vegas" for me at times... prolly won''t happen this year though.
40.gif

jewelry in general: maybe another opaque or semi-precious piece? i love these Gabrielle Sanchez - Flyer earrings!

the top are cognac quartz and

bottom are rutilated quartz

Wow Kayla, the settings on those earrings are so unusual and beautiful. I would love to see the way they look in ears.

I only have one diamond goal: to get engaged with a setting that I love!

My other goals for 2006 are too long to list, but one notable one is to start pilates !!!

The only think I KNOW I will get for sure is a diamond wedding band. Any ideas ladies?

30.gif
3 carat round studs (earrings) to match my pendant.

Here''s hoping FI is telling me it will be in the first half of this year...

1) Asscher ering
2) Trade in my 3/4tcw earrings (which I can no longer wear) to something I can use maybe a 1/2 ct asscher pendant
3) A new aquamarine something or other for mom
9.gif

My 2006 diamond goal is to get over my 2006 diamond goals. Although my 5th anniv is in 2006. But I doubt I'd get an upgrade. I'm pretty ok... Oh wait, does resetting my hoops count? That's not a biggie though.

I too was advised of our new 2006 savings plan. Hmmm.

Who needs to retire anyway?

Is there a matching type band for your ering?

Nope, it is not part of a set. I was thinking a 2-3 mm, milgrained, PLT, channel set PR cut (1/2 eternity) but the assher one on SP looks so pretty. would that be odd though seeing how I do not have asshers in my e-ring? (I thought they could compliment my EC). maybe a bead set RB with milgrain detail. I don''t know. I did try on two very thin sapphire e-bands one on each side and it looked VERY cool but I am afraid I would get tired of it so I think I want to stick with just diamonds for my band.

ETA: kaylagee - LOVE those earrings! I really like the bottom pair.

Tacori - OMG... I have been lusting over that asscher eternity band on SP FOR-EV-ER! There is something about the square cuts that i personally think look so much nicer/more finished/complete in a channel setting. The little gaps RBs make bug me!

I think asschers would be a lovely compliment to your EC... and if you get the SP band, Isaac could probably add a little miligrain on the edges for you to match your ering more. It is probably different for you because you have sapphires in your ering and have a larger center stone, but i REALLY wanted sapphire wedding bands, but after trying several on i felt they took too much away from my diamond.

MMMMMMMMmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm........
