What is your favorite color/clarity range? for a 2-3 ct ,up to $35k...

a well cut stone. What shape would you like? I can''t make a pole since there are too many possible combinations.

My favorite combo.......H VS-2 2.5ct RB H&A,0 cut.
My range.........G-H VS1-SI1.

I got to decide this and find one a couple of years ago.

I went with 2.52ctw RB H&A, ideal cut, E/VS2. In hindsight, now that I know more and have more confidence buying online, I''d stick with 2.5ct, and look for E-F, VS2-SI2, with E/SI1 being my goal. F SI1 would be just fine also. My range to consider would be D-H VS2-SI2. I only include D because in my search, every once in a while, a very nice D popped up that was still in my general price range.

RB = Ideal cut, F, VS2-SI1, 3ct --I actually came pretty close; I sacrificed color (H) to get size.

In a square fancy cut, like asscher, I''d need 4.5-5 cts, VS1-2, F.

My favorite combo is F-SI1 which is what I ended up with for my pear. Was shopping for the same combo in my previous stone but ended up with a 2.05 D-VS2 Oval because that was all they had at the time. Must say, it was nice owning a D, and yes, I could tell the difference in the whiteness between the D and the F when I saw them side by side.

mmmm, absolute ideal would be ~3.25c ideal cut H SI2 that is eye-clean. H is my sweet spot even though I can go down to J when budget calls for it!

oh and the other dream is an asscher that would be ~4.5c, H or I VS2 or eye-clean SI1 since you can see inclusions more easily in them than rounds!

In perfect, we are loaded beyond words world, I would probably like an F or G, 1.5-2ct max, VS2 of SI1 clarity, Star 129 round or H&A round (or similar) OR an F color, VVS clarity 1.25 ct-1.5ct Emerald cut.

OOOHHH.. I would pick a 0 bills and students loans and possible a down payment on a house.. Oh yeah.. this is about diamonds

Personally, I would love a 2ct vvs1 Fcolor... yummy round...

I'm probably the only person on this board who wouldn't wear a 2 (or larger) carat stone. . .just too much for me. . .BUT, if I were to choose, I'd go up in color and down in size and make a nice pendant out of an ideal cut round brilliant 2 carat F VS2.

Realistically for $35K, I'd buy multiple pieces - a one carat RB ring, 1.5 ct tw studs, and with whatever money left a large pendant or a RHR.
