What is your holy grail and do you own it?

Nope. Killer sapphire in a "vintage Hemmerle-style" bezel or flush mount (and which Hemmerle seem to have gotten away from lately). Also: super-low-color (but not dark or FCD) step-cut diamond mounted the same way. East/west for both.

We do have a decent sapphire cabochon or two that I lusted after for a while before pulling the trigger.

What does a Hemmerle-style bezel look like, please?

Sure do! After I got Beloved in her three stone iteration, I occasionally thought about resetting her - mostly because I am always looking to maximize my pieces and this was intended to be a temp setting while I worked out what I "reeeeeally wanted". It was just a habitual, automatic response - ie "How can I make this better??" But that faded away quite quickly with her and within a month or 2 I knew I was never - ever - changing her. Since then, it *never* occurs to me to want to change her; she slips onto my finger and feels like home every day. She is for sure my HG.

I have HG pieces in the earrings department, necklace, and bracelet/bangle categories also. But Beloved it above them all.

3 x ACA - 4.05 H VS1, 1.12 H VS1, 1.13 H VS1 - set in yellow gold with platinum head, wraps and decal on the back, design by me, made by David Klass Jewelry.

I’m not going to post a picture of my holy grail ring out of consideration for the lovely PS’er who had it made originally. I’ve owned it for over 10 years now and I still love it.

Aww we need to see it. I've been on PS a while but have the worst memory. Surely after 10 years you are allowed to share it!

I’m trying to think if I own a HG piece. If it’s not a quick yes, then maybe it’s a no?

I have a big birthday coming up and I’m considering buying a HG piece. This thread is very inspiring for me. Thank you for sharing!

I would wish to have a Belperron piece but it’s out of reach for me.

lol can you describe it for us?

1. I don’t own it yet and waiting for the right OEC / transitional diamond find it’s way to me. Looking for a stone that is 2.5-3 carats, chunky facets, high crown and anywhere from N to Z in color. Priced to sell ;)

2. Project in process…Albert-inspired chain with collet set diamonds. Not sure if lab or earth-mined - watching the melee prices. My version more than likely will18K white gold, a chain I already own. Gold prices are INSANE right now.

I’ve been pondering this question for a while - it’s been a cathartic exercise! - and have concluded that for certain categories like rings, I don’t have a HG because I like variety. And, of course, I drool over bigger and bad-asser diamonds when I see them…

Like this 7.5ct OEC…

Or this 10ct oval, and 10ct brown-yellow pear…

And sadly one ring that I don’t have a pic of but has lived rent-free in my head is a genuine antique chubby emerald cut, 8-9ct, in a simple art deco setting. A bit like this one but chubbier and in a platinum setting:

But for other categories, I do have a holy grail.

Necklace: VCA 10 motif in hammered gold. I got this piece a couple of years ago and “know” it’s my holy grail chunky-ish gold necklace because whenever I feel the itch for a chunky gold necklace (such as a tubogas), I tell myself that I have the VCA and am wholly satisfied

Bracelets: Tiffany Bone Cuff in YG or RG, preferably an older model sourced at auction. Still kicking myself for not bidding higher at an auction last year, ahh.
I do own my everyday HG bracelet though, which is a Cartier Juste Un Clou. I got it more than five years ago and barely take it off as it’s so comfortable

Earrings: not sure what my HG is yet. My VCA 4-motif chandelier earrings are a lot of fun but slightly impractical (heavy + makes a wind chime noise when my head moves). I think I’d like a pair of large diamond earrings clips, a bit like these extra large 27mm VCA Cosmos but art deco / modernist with a mix of step- and brilliant- cut diamonds

Watch: VCA YG Cadenas and 36mm RG Rolex, preferably a vintage one from the 50/60s sourced at auction for the Cadenas and 80/90s for the Rolex. Photos here are a WG/pave Cadenas and a 31mm / 40mm rainbow RG Rolex (I’ve yet to find a 36mm RG)

Whew! Thanks for bringing up this topic, as I sometimes lose focus on what I truly want!

I adore your style.

I have Holy Grails.
I concur with others who proclaim their DH is their HG. My DH is a true diamond in the rough.
IMG_9526.jpeg

My first ER center diamond is a gorgeous 1.07ct G SI2 (eye clean) Emerald Cut EGD.
At the time that diamond was selected to be placed into the mounting of his choice, we agreed to upgrade in the future.
I cherish my beloved “Uisce”, and have worn her with pride since his most amazing proposal.
Thread:

In 2017, I acquired “A Suite of 7” Vintage Cut Asscher EGDs from Yoram @diagem to be set into a ring of my very own custom design. This project has been stalled, but is picking up some momentum, lately. We are hoping it will appear on my finger next November when we will celebrate 10 years of marriage and renew our vows.
Thread:

February 14, 2022, DH added a Royal Asscher pendant to my collection, which had been a dream of mine for decades. “Queen” is 0.50ct, but she packs a big punch with her flashy, majestic performance, even in the shade.
Thread:

February 25, 2025, DH made my dream of upgrading my ER center stone come true.
“Uisce” was transferred to a beautiful pendant and “Neaugh” took her place on my OG engagement ring setting.
“Neaugh” weighs in at 4.00ct. D color, VS1 clarity, EX polish/EX symmetry. She is a high quality LGD, and she is my “Forever” Diamond.
Our entire story is embodied in her dimensions. Numerically, she represents us, from beginning to present.
