What kind of gemstones would be this color?

Spinel will occasionally come in that color as well

@MakingTheGrade Thanks! I do remember seeing a spinel that looked similar in photos a bit back but the video was a different color. I had forgotten about that.

I think Tourmaline or garnet might be the most friendly price point. After that sapphire / ruby do come in those tones but are more pricey. Spinel as well but sometimes they “black out” in some light conditions.

Top one: Mogok (Burmese) ruby with that hint of blue -- but I doubt you'd find that size 8-).

Garnet and tourmaline are a lot cheaper! Garnets will tend to be dark (and soft) and most rubellite tourmaline will be treated and not nearly that vivid.

Rubellite Tourmaline.

DK :))

Definitely a spinel or purple garnet.
The spinel by Roger Dery is pretty close

Langford calls this a "plum spinel"

Many of the garnets offered by AGS Gems come close, too!

Can't say I personally love this colour, but if that's what you're looking for,
@winnietucker then spinel or garnet is the way to go. Looks like the other replies agree.

Rhodolite garnet, rubellite tourmaline?

Yes I think these could match those gorgeous flowers above in color. I have earrings that are the exact same color (or at least in my eyes they are) and the stones are rhodolite garnet (with amethyst in the center).
