That isn''t always the case. It seems to be harder to find EC''s with lower clarity that are eye clean but I guess they do occasionally come up. If you focus the most on cut (polish and symetry for starters) you may be able to relax a little on the color. It all depends on the stone. Mine is a J for example and I bet in real life you would never guess it.

EM1, would you ever buy a lower color step cut w/out seeing it IRL?

I''m thinking of upgrading to an asscher but am scared to go lower than H. I currently have an I round and I do see a bit of warmth next to whiter stones. I would be working with Whiteflash.

Thanks!

I''m sorry, I did not see this post. To answer your question, its hard to say. I think if you are planning to upgrade with Whiteflash they should be able to help you find one without you seeing it. I would however make sure to look at some asschers in the lower colors before you decide. However, I personally believe that if the cut is better you won''t see the color as much so I''m not sure if you''ll see those in your area. However, I would tell WF what you are looking for and I would trust it.

Thanks EM1

That helps in my decision, I think I''ll have to have the loose stone sent to me first if I go with a lower color as there are no (!) local stores that carry asschers. We finally got a Tacori dealer and they have a CZ emerald in one of their rings

I was so excited to try it on too. I told the rep that I wanted an asscher and he said ''just get a princess if you want a square stone''

Round brilliant please! It''s just what looked right on my finger.

For my ering - I want a round brilliant. There is just something classy and real about them. However... for everthing else, I like princess, emeralds, cushions, and anything with pear sides - but not pear shaped. I like ovals also for a rhr. Would LOVE to have a ruby/topaz mother''s set someday surrounded by pave diamonds.... dream dream sigh sigh!

OMG - how could I forget about beautiful asscher? I love them. They are all just fun and wonderful. But RBs still have a place in my traditional heart!

I would really like either an Asscher or a Cushion. I love asschers for their unique look and they are SOOOO Pretty, but I also love the brilliant cushions that sparkle so so much and I like that they look nice in candlelight as well.

I always had a RB. I thought I wanted to switch to an asscher or a cushion, but when I tried them on I realized that I needed to see a circle on my finger, so I still have a rb. But I love them all.

I''m married but I''ll answer anyway! I have a round stone, early round brilliant, whatever that is, according to the latest jeweller. What I''d like depends on how much money I have. I''d really like a cushion or asscher, but think those look best in 1 carat or over. If I stuck with my current size stone, .46ish, I''d like an OEC or oval.
