hi all,

does anyone know the song that plays on the memoire website (www.memoire.com)? actually, i wonder if it''s an actual recorded/released song or just something specifically done for the site.

I think its actually a released French song...I will ask to ask my friend...he is well versed in Euro music.

Hello folks. I googled the chorus (je t'aime
avec tout mon cœur, amour), and can't find anything.
It might be a snippet of an 'underground' track
but is more likely owned by Memoire.

The song that plays on that website was created by a group in California especially for the website.

Dear sugarplum,

You don't know how long I have been waiting to be asked about this! I was fairly bursting to tell you about my ingenuity as a "researcher"! (My tongue is firmly between my teeth, I assure you.)

When my own searches of the French lyrics on sites for French lyrics ended in no results, I cheated and just wrote to the company via the e-mail address contact they had posted on their website. Ms. Katherine McDowell promptly answered my e-mail, saying:

"The song that plays on our website was created by a group in California especially for the website. If you like the sound of it, I would suggest the French artist, Coralie Clement.

Please let me know if you need any additional information.

Have a great day.

Thank you!

Katie McDowell
Memoire"

I believe that she gave me the name of a singer thinking that I would like to record the song myself. I wrote back to thank her and told her that I had wanted the the information for someone on Pricescope who, I thought, might like to buy a recording of the song.

That is the entire saga.

The passive-aggression around these parts
would make a cat laugh, AGBF.

I'll take the direct, adult-oriented route:

I informed the OP of the exact phrase I had searched
for so that she might continue the search, if she
so wished.

Congratulate yourself on daring such a succinct, subtle
way of calling your maturity level into question.

I wonder where your tongue is likely to be now

Did you just insult me? You can''t be subtle, you know. Given my maturity level, you have to spell it out. :-).

That doesn't look too much like an
apology, but you know, what's a little
mud-slinging between two adults

Have a good one.

I am not sure what I am supposed to apologize for! Nor do I see where I slang any mud. (I know that sounds wrong, but it should be "slang" and then "had slung" if it follows the same rules of "drank" and "had drunk".) However, if I offended you, I do apologize. I am actually a nice person.

Best regards,
Deborah

I''m afraid you''ll have to pull the
other one, AGBF, it''s a leg.

Time to move along, I think.

it seems a bit has gone on since i last checked this thread... haha.

thank you all who have tried to help me figure out what song this is and deb, thanks for taking the time to email memoire directly. that was going to be my next attempt but you beat me to it!

I don't understand what happened in this thread but Deb did not say anything wrong in my opinion and I agree, she is a nice person. Glad the mystery
to the song is solved

Sugarplum; it sounds lovely!

TheKing, I too have to vouch for Deb.

I see you haven't been registered long, and I'm not sure if you lurked much before joining. Having been here awhile, I can honestly say that how posters may "appear" at first glance, and how they are after you've "read" them awhile and gotten to know them, can be two entirely different things. Perhaps what threw you is her posting style? At any rate, she really is a very nice, non confrontational poster.

And Miss Deb, I wouldn't have even questioned where you got the answer, I just would have assumed it was but one little tidbit in your extremely vast knowledge bank.

Thank you Skippy and Ellen for your
respectful input.

Although I''m at a loss to understand how
typical passive-aggressive trolling on a
non-PM forum could be any less recognisable
according to the time I''ve spent lurking or
registered.

I doubt that AGBF randomly debates apparent
past-particaples of sound-alike verbs, don''t you?

Not to put too-fine a point on it or anything

Ahh, internet-forum cliques and the emperor''s new

I see no issue with AGBF''s post. In fact, I think it was fine detective work that got the answer to the original question.

TheKingLives, I''m assuming that you think AGBF was taking a shot at you in her posting or something, maybe because of the way she phrased it? I think she was being completely SELF-deprecating, not going after your perfectly logical post. I think it''s MUCH more likely she was referring back to this thread on What do you like to research?. And I''m not defending her because I''m part of some clique, I think there''s just been a bizarre misunderstanding.

A comment to Thekinglives (so as not to be accused of passive-aggressiveness):

As I understand passive-aggressive behavior, AGBF's behavior could be considered P-A only if her real intent was confront you, (i.e. to show you up), and she did under the guise of providing help to sugarplum.

I'm not a part of any PS "cliques" so maybe there's something going on here that I'm not aware of, but... I see nothing in AGBF's note that was directed at you. She's simply stating that she tried googling the text -- which, by the way, is the approach many internet-savvy people would try -- and when that didn't work, she tried another approach that did pay off.
She shared how she did it only when asked. That's more restraint than I would have been able to muster under the circumstances, by the way.
2.gif
Nothing passive-aggressive (or brown-nosing, which I assume is the allusion in your last comment) in that.

Thank you Selkie for your fair words.

MINIMS, I agree, the aim of passive aggression
is to precipitate dischord or discombobulation at
some interpersonal level. If the desire for
confrontation was intrinsic it was certainly
sated in this thread, with myself appearing
as the aggressor.

I''m not sure what restraints, if any, would be
necessarily employed when answering a simple
query? (Save for needless detail-specification,
of course).

I would have thought any Irish or Irish-American
person, for example, couldn''t fail to wonder why
an impromptu and pointless debate (by that I mean
that there is simply no audience for it) on the
past participles of the verb ''to drink'' would occur
in the middle of an upset thread. Something to think
about, maybe.

I don''t need to allude one iota to what I make of
this behaviour. All the best to you now, and in
particular to Skippy and Selkie.

I''m with Deb (and Blu) on this one. I don''t understand why this thread has turned down the path it has. Sugarplum asked a question and Deb found the answer. She''s always been a thoughful poster, so I''m not sure why these comments are being made.

Ali, I heard you :-). I will try to stick to the topic of the song, the research, and my own motivation without calling anyone any names :-).

Selkie, you are 100% on target. I was trying to be self-deprecating by making fun of my supposedly major "research" which consisted of simply writing to a company whose address was readily available to me. And I was referring to the research thread in which many of us discussed how absolutely obsessed we became with searching the Internet for information about anything and everything. It never occurred to me that anyone else should have written to the company. It seemed like the dummy's way to get information, you see, not the intellectual's, so it didn't occur to me that it was anything to brag about. I apologize that somehow I came off as seeming to be a know-it-all because I used it and others did not.
