and why?

I''m just getting interested in colored gemstones and am reading and researching. I''m finding that people''s preferences are probably very personal.

What stones, colors, cuts, mines, vendors cause you to pause for a second look, or find you drooling? Pictures are strongly encouraged!!

Oh, my...I love them all! But I guess in the end, my true favorites are rubies and sapphires.

Here''s a dream stone I''d almost kill for...a magnificent ruby...in what looks like an asscher cut! What more could a girl want?

uhhhhh.....all of them

really, to pick just one, or even two (or 3 or 4!!) seems irreverent. there is such beauty in all of the different gems and cuts, and even rough!

how could you just pick one!?

i will say, that i tend to gravitate towards blues, greens, and purples.....so this tri-color tanzanite would have me saving my pennies!

My dreams include a gorgeous pad sapphire, coincidentally set just like this one!!

Pink sapphire. I love the color pink!!!

EMERALD......EMERALD......EMERALD.......

I just love the green/blue of columbian emeralds!

This 9ct emerald would be right up my alley in a Leon Mege masterpiece!!!

In general, I like all beautiful stones in any pretty and pure color.

Something I did not know about myself before was that I like red stones! such as spess, ruby or red sapphire (they are the same, aren''t they?) I love my red spess (see https://www.pricescope.com/community/threads/what-do-you-think-of-this-spessartine.28960/)!

I have to admit that I am attracted to ''unusual'' stones - in respect to color or shape. I have this silver green tourmaline that is my top favorite. Will try to post pic tonight.

OOOHHH.. You had to ask!!!

I LLLOOOOVVVEEEE MY ORANGE SPESS!!! LOVE LOVE LOVE that orange!

But I am also drawn to Topaz... especailly swiss blue topaz. I love voilety-blue sapphires and I have quite a lust for moonstones lately as well.

I have to say that Mexican Fire opal is yummy as well and WHO could forget to mention TOURMALINE!!! MY goodness.. heart be still!! Green, blue, Grass green, pink Tourmaline....

I am starting to like those color change garnets more and more and who could forget.. blah blah blah...

I have another blue sapphire which is deeper color, but very beautiful. It is still in the AGTA lab. for indentification. I believe the sapphire is unheated. I can barely wait for the result. I will take and post some pictures as soon as I receive it back. The blue sapphire with the heart cut above is also unheated, but I wish the color were slightly deeper. It has been graded by the AGTA lab. The Padparadscha color spinel has also been graded by the AGTA lab. I think I talk too much about my gemstones

Tanzanite gets my vote. Although the really deeply colored ones are great, this medium shade is so bright that it just jumps out and grabs you. This one is long gone to an estate jeweler, so I hope that this doesn''t come across as self promotion. If so I apologize in advance.

Goregeous! Gorgeous!! Gorgeous!!!

So much personality, much more so than the very reserved beauty of diamonds. Don''t get me wrong, I love my diamonds!! But, ooooohhhh, so many pretty colors!

MINE!!! Your luscious ring is one of the beauties that started my new craving! Imperial topaz is a stone I don''t know much about, but they''re on my list. The spinels are so intriguing because of the variation in color and their beautiful sparkle. Michael, I haven''t looked at tanzanite much yet, but I love the color. And I wouldn''t worry about self-promotion, I already looovve your work!! Masterpieces!

Sigh. Greens do it for me. Chrome tourmaline and demantoids especially. I also have a certain fondness for moonstones and brown zircon. I also think a fine, velvety blue sapphire is mighty purty.

How about a fine Pala, San Diego County Idicolite?

Humm?

Hi Upgrade,

That stone looks like a very rare red star ruby. Most have white stars. I have never even seen a picture of a Pad Star Ruby. If you find one please post a picture.

mjo, (my gemstone hero!
36.gif
) is paraiba tourmaline your favorite?

I am wanting a pariba tourmaline badly!!!! They are so pretty.

Here is another blue sapphire that I have. I am confused with the color
33.gif
. Is it called cornflower blue or Kashmiry blue color?
34.gif
The size is only 0.84 carat
8.gif
. I wish it were larger. The color is very nice. It glows, but has a slight cloud which is barely visible. On the picture is more visible because it is enlarged. The actual stone is much much cleaner than the picture. Any opinion about the color?
