My friend is going to do makeup for myself, my mom and bm''s for the wedding.

She wants to do it for free - just for a copy of the professional shots for her portfolio - she''s just recently finished makeup artist school.

I want to get her something special to say thank you though besides a copy of the shots.

Any ideas?

For reference - I got my bm''s a black clutch, MAC lipglass in Prrr (my fav/signature color) and a compact - I wanted to get them reusable things. I wish I could have gotten them more, but I have 6 so $60 each was the most I could spend.

What about some MAC brushes?

I think I would probably just give her a card with a $100 gift certificate to some place totally frivolous. I was going to say Sephora but I guess if she''s a makeup artist she has lots of makeup!! Maybe a spa treatment or something?

OOh, that''s a great idea, just for her to have for herself! I know she doesn''t spend alot on herself!

A great thing to get for her starting out would be a huge palette with tons of different shades for all different skin tones. I''ve had my eye on this for awhile now.

ooh...that''s a good idea.
also, aren''t their cases, etc. pricey- she might appreciate one, or $ towards one (thinking the train case things??)

Good brushes are going to be pricey.

I have MAC brushes that last forever and I love them!

I have Smashbox as well... I like them and will have to see if they stand up as well as MAC. I have a small travel kit of Sephora brushes and like them as well. You might want to check with her make-up artist friends and see what the "industry standard" is for brushes... it seems MAC might be the most popular, but I would check.

Maybe this is cheesey, but you could get an empty pallet from a MAC pro store, and then give it to her with a gift cert. so she can fill it herself.

i love happy in love''s idea!! as a professional we actually get a discount at any mac stores so i think its a great idea!! she can get stuff she needs or wants just a perfect gift in my eyes.

my other idea was an american express gift card in a nice personalized card!!
