I'm enclosing a few pictures of my wedding gown - it's the sample, two sizes larger and inches longer than what they ordered me, but I think the idea is there. It's a Maggie Sottero, "Libby," and it's a slim a-line with a court train. With the clips holding the dress tighter in the back (not there in this pic), the dress really gives my waist a great shape - which I don't normally have!!

My cousin has offered to make my veil for me, but I have no idea what length/style to ask for. I know I want the simple comb that I'll have put into the back of my hair.

I'm not sure I like the veil I'm in, in this picture. But I'm stuck on what would look good for this style of dress: fingertip length (pictured) or elbow length? Plain, or bejeweled? What about ribbon piping sewn into the hem?

Any advice or suggestions would be helpful. TIA!

Unfortunately I didn''t have anyone straighten out the train before taking this picture, so you can''t see it. Also, the corset top was laced really losely so the detail of it could be seen. I was holding the dress up over my chest and had to let go quickly so they could take a pic!!

Single layer, floor length! It will give a sweeping feeling but if it''s single layer you should be able to still see the detail on the dress through the veil.

What surfgirl said, something no longer than elbow length. Whatever the length, I think it needs to be sheer rather than full.

Beautiful beautiful dress!!! I would do an elbow length veil, double veil so one can be blusher or if you don't want that it just gives some nice extra poof. I think with a beautiful slimming gown like that you want the extra poof around your head and not be dragged down. But that's just my preference. I read somewhere that if you are under 5'4" you should have elbow length and if you are taller than 5'7" you should have fingertip. If you are between these heights you can choose either one.

I agree with surfgirl - do a very sheer, single layer, thin (not one with volume or a waterfall) - all the way to the floor/chapel. Let us know what you decide!

I was looking at this dress on the Maggie site, and there are 3 real bride bios for it. Only one of the three wore a veil, and it's hard to see it well in the pic, but it looks like one that hangs almost straight down (doesn't fall around her shoulders at all) from the top of her updo. It looks like it might even have some lace along the bottom edge, but I can't be sure. Here's the link.

Now see, Golfgirl - I thought that too at first - but when I saw the picture that Ladyciel pointed out (thanks, Lady!) I noticed that (very tall, it seems) bride was wearing a fingertip length and second guessed myself. I am very short, only 5'3", and thought that the longer length didn't work once I saw the pictures.

A friend of mine recently got married in a similar Anne Barge dress and I thought her veil was beautiful. It was double layer, very sheer and simple and showed off the details of the dress beautifully. Here are the pics. Hope this helps.

I think ultimately you need to decide what sort of look you want. Since you are petite I would not go with fingertip it will cut you off at the waist or even worse, at the hips. I would suggest if you want a Carolyn Bessett Kennedy/Jennifer Aniston type of look you go with the single layer placed back on your head to the floor. If you want the bridey, spunky, less romantic and more "hey look at me" look go with the poofy elbow length (no longer than 30 inches maybe even less) witha 24 inch blusher with poof and have it around your shoulders.

I am also wearing the Libby dress by Maggie Sottero. I have recently been trying to decide between veil or no veil. What did you decide on? (what colour is your dress?- mine is in light gold with ivory).
