You had 9 3-point round diamonds to use for a ring?

I have these diamonds in a custom setting that I no longer like so I am going to have them removed from the setting and hopefully, use them in another ring for my right hand. I just can''t decide what type of ring! I only want to spend about $500 so I can''t add any more diamonds, but perhaps a colored gemstone (I really like amethyst)? If I used this idea, what do you think would be an attractive setting to use the diamonds other than putting them in a prong set or channel set around the band? I know I don''t want just a band of diamonds because I already have that for my wedding band. Any ideas and/or pictures would be much appreciated!

What about an alternating diamond and gemstone band?
I don't think the gemstones would cost too much at that size.
What about sinking them into a bracelet? It's a toughy

ohh good idea S/O. Id probably go with a diamond half eternity like those memoire ones I see on here.

Thanks for the good ideas! I like the one about the alternating diamond and gemstone band.

Ame, it's funny you mention the Memoire half-eternity band. That's exactly what I have for my wedding band. The 9 extra diamonds I have came from the custom band I had made to look like the Memoire band. But then I finally found the real Memoire band and had to get it (my custom band did not compare), thus the extra diamonds!

Anyone else have any ideas of how to use the extras?

Well there you go! I think a Sapphire band would rock. I knew I remember you saying something bout it. I know its in Mara's thread too.

Hmm, how about a nice pair of chandelier earrings? Forgiving the costume-jewelry quality, these are my humble suggestions:

Oh, chandelier earrings would be pretty! I hadn't considered earrings. I especially like the 2nd pair and would love them in white gold! I am hoping for a pair of diamond stud earrings in the next couple of years from my hubby

! Maybe I could wear chandeliers in the meantime! Thanks for that idea, Goldengirl!

I found this pic in the Eye Candy folder. It was posted by Kayla17 and I think it's beautiful. Maybe I could put an amethyst in the middle and put the 9 diamonds around the amythest. I probably would not have diamonds in the band. I would just have to find someone to custom make the setting. What do you think? I'm still brainstorming!

Just wanted to add--if you're planning on getting studs, you could have the chandeliers made as a "shield"....in other words, instead of the dangly bits being attached to the post, they'd be on a ring and you'd slide them on & off. So, when hubby buys those studs, you can slip the chandelier shields on for a little extra BLING!

But I also LOVE that ring you found! I think as long as you kept the gemstone of the less-expensive variety and didn't try for eternity-style, you could do it within your budget!
