baked, stuffed potatoes...roasted cherry tomatoes...polenta with gorgonzola...and a panettone bread pudding for dessert!

My SIL is bringing another dessert. The appetizers are a cheese tray, and veggies with dip.

Tomorrow we go to my SIL''s house, and I''m bringing a chocolate turtle cake for dessert.

Gosh, I''m hungry.

Merry Christmas!

I've got mashed potatoes, a warm brussel sprouts and bacon salad and hot artichoke dip for our contributions...Dad got the ham (for me!!), Mom is making a prime rib and we have homemade tamales, beans, a veggie, and a pasta salad. Honey wheat rolls (yum!) and for desserts a hodgepodge of pies, cookies and YULE LOG..my Mom's favorite.

That's for tonite!! The whole family meets at my parents house, tomorrow morning it's just us opening gifts (and we have smoked salmon, cream cheese, capers and toasted bagels at home...YUM!!!) and then we head over to my parents again for lunch and gifts and a movie.

I am sooo looking fwd to the food and company tonite...!!

Hubby and I are making rib roast, mashed potatoes, and all the fixings today with ham, scalloped potatoes, and the trimmings for Christmas Day. Need to go work on my pecan pies now. Everyone have a wonderful holiday!!!

We are making jumbo shrimp on the grill for Christmas Eve dinner. Shrimp (many different ways) has been our Christmas Eve dinner for as far back as I can remember. Even as a kid, my grandmother always made shrimp for Christmas Eve.

Tomorrow it will be a traditional Christmas -- Ham, turkey with gravy, green beans, candied sweet potatoes, roasted red potatoes, cranberry sauce, salad, rolls, and an assortment of pies and cookies for dessert. YUMMMMMMY!

We always did the traditional Christmas dinner, ham, turkey, potatos etc. until 3 years ago. We were tired of the same ol'' Thankgiving meal and voted to swith to prime rib. My mom makes it with a wilted leaf lettuce salad, baked potatos etc. We also do a Christmas brunch which includes a sausage casserole, cinnamon rolls and memosa''s

Right now in the oven is a TURDUCKEN !

a boneless turkey stuufed with boneless duck then stuffed with boneless chicken. With cajun dressing in it.

No I did not make this, a vendor send these to us every year.

I''ll add some veggies and call it dinner.
Tomorrow is ham, fruit stuffed pork loin, potatoes au gratin, asparagus, fresh green beans, brocolli salad, rolls, lots of sweet yummy fattening things.

We always a tamales on Christmas. My husbands dad was returning from WWII by train, and his first stop since he boarded the train in California was San Antonio. Well, when he got off the train there was a tamale vendor selling to the guys getting off. It was Christmas Day and he was HOME!! So he bought tamales for lots of the guys, many had no idea what they were. So we have tamales to honor him, his buddies on the train and their service to our country.

Pork tenderloin with balsamic cranberry sauce
Butternut squash gratin (w/carmelized onions, sage, thyme, and smoked guyere)
Mashed potatoes
Peas
(last two for my daughter who will only eat certain things
Buttermilk biscuits
homemade pumpkin pie

Tomorrow we''re having filet mignon with the leftover vegetables . . .

Firegoddess, after Christmas would you post the recipe for that?

I have a corn casserole in the crockpot. We are having scrambled eggs, sausages, and popovers for breakfast (our traditional Christmas breakfast). Later in the day tomorrow I will cook up some angel hair pasta with spaghetti sauce or some linguine with pesto and some (turkey) meatballs.

We had takeout Chinese food from P.F. Chang''s tonight (Christmas Eve).

Will do!

Spiral sliced honey ham
Rosemary/garlic roasted red potatoes
Broccoli casserole
Parker house rolls

and for dessert..... my signature Pumpkin Kahlua Cheesecake! I had to make it yesterday to be ready for today and it was really hard for all of us to keep our paws off of it. Mixing a little of the leftover Kahlua into some coffee helped take my mind off of it though!! Cheers and Merry Christmas to all!!

I''ll never forget the first time I realized what we had on Christmas wasn''t traditional

.

We are Italian, so we start the day with antipasti. My favorite is to take the proscuitto & wrap it in fresh mozzarella!

Then we move onto the pasta course which includes completely home made manicotti (even the shells!), meatballs, sausage & brashol (sp??)

Then, we get to the "main course" (as if everyone weren''t stuffed enough!) and we have spedini (which is rolled up broiled chicken cutlets), various vegetables and salad.

For dessert, we have a fruited pound cake, cassata cake, strouffeli and cookies from recipes that have been passed down.

My grandma makes EVERYTHING herself & this year she is 83! She''s amazing

Merry Christmas/Happy Hanukkah everyone!

Enjoy all the yummy food!

I know what you mean. I miss my mom''s stuffed shells (though we didn''t bother to make the pasta ourselves!)...ricotta cheesecake...I did make strufuli once...our neighbor used to bring them over every year for Christmas!

AGBF, I'm going to post this right now in the recipes thread. I'll edit to add the link here as well after I'm done.

It came out really well...I was nervous because I've never made a bread pudding before (and don't like them much)...but the panettone one came out AWESOME! Everyone devoured it...and the hot bread pudding paired really well with a scoop of vanilla ice cream!!!

Here's the linky!

Everything sounds so good!!
I''m having sautéed garlic shrimp
Roast duck
Homemade mashed potatoes
green beans
sweet corn
stuffing
pineapple casserole
and a Jell-O salad dessert (yuck I jest made it for my Hubby)

Also family members are bringing
Sashimi (yum)
chicken fricassee
and flan for dessert

mmmm. strufuli is my all time favorite dessert. I definitely need to learn how my grandma makes it. My grandma is funny about making her own pasta. I asked her once why she did it for the manicotti, but not stuffed shells or anything else when she made those. Her answer: "It''s Christmas!", eventhough she ALWAYS makes her own manicotti shells.

Yesterday, I asked my fiancee if we should have my grandma cater our wedding instead of paying somewhere upwards of $150 per person. He actually seemed really open to that idea!

Our menu was prime rib roast with garlic/rosemary crust, blue cheese delmonico potatoes, steamed broccoli, shoepeg corn, homemade stuffing with pears, pecans, and sausage; and a tossed salad.

Oh that sounds yummy Al. I bet your first Christmas in your new house was special indeed!!!

Tradition dictates Fondue. Dad cuts up beef tenderloin and we dip in veg oil until done. Served with mashed potatoes, all sorts of veggies & veggie caseroles & bearnaise sauce.

Tonight - a yummy standing rib roast, basmati rice & asparagus. Y''all are making me hungary. All I had last night was Easy Mac & a belly full of sausage rolls (too many apetizers).

What about New Years? We are thinking Surf & Turf - if we can convince our friends.

Our Christmas feast usually lasts all day....Since we have a very international family, consisting of Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Mexican, Italian and Swiss members, we have a ton of different foods. This year we had:

Hot Cinnamon rolls and sausage for breakfast.
We had eggrolls, spinach dip and sourdough bread, tamales, taquitos for lunch/munch all day snacks.
For dinner: 11lb prime rib roast (with whipped horseradish and/or mushroom port wine sauce), garlic mashed potatoes, roasted root veggies, creamed spinach, homemade lasagna with italian sausage, salad with sesame dressing, dinner rolls.
Dessert: Brownies, strawberry cheesecake, snickerdoodles, chocolate-chip cookies.

My youngest S-I-L and her husband, my bro and I did the majority of the cooking. We always go WAY overboard on the food, and end up with leftovers for days. I love it!
