I dont know if this was a topic before but what songs are you girls/guys banning from your reception?

I like the Electric Slide and Who Let the Dogs Out(I know...) so they may have to stay. :)

We''re banning:
Macarena
Hokey Pokey
Chicken Dance
Cha Cha Slide
YMCA
Mony Mony
Love Shack
Mambo #5
Also no Jessica Simpson or Carrie Underwood

I wrote it into the contract that if ANY country was played other than the 1 song for the father daughter dance, the DJ company didn''t get paid. Same for Rap. Only specific songs were allowed. No requests other than the parents and me. Ryan said he didn''t care enough to request. haha.

We typed out a list of songs they were allowed to play. The DJ we had was FANTASTIC. He did exactly what we asked and was just overall great.

We did NO organized dances like the slide or macarena though my cousins started a conga line that tore the crap out of all of my bustles.

Who the hell is Carrie Underwood

FI is much more adamant about the NO PLAY list than I am. I really don''t care as long as everyone has fun.

I don''t like any of the line dances (macarena, electric slide, anything involving a conga line)
Jeff says no "Celebrate" (he HATES this song, for no good reason)
We had a bigger list.. but like I said.. they are all FIs preferences and I don''t really care what gets played!

OOOH i totally forgot about "Celebrate". So cliche. carrie was the american idol winner. i dont like her at all and my friend is obsessed so i have to ban her so he doesnt request her.

Our no play list is similar to PNP''s... no line dances, no macarena or chicken dance (although both bring back some fun & interesting memories... but those were pre-FI days... not appropriate at my wedding

). NO YMCA or Hokey Pokey (hello? it''s not the roller skating rink!!). I don''t dislike Jessica Simpson or Carrie Underwood (I think I''m supposed to like her since I''m in Oklahoma...) but I don''t know of any of their songs that would fit in with our reception.

Thankfully, our DJ is a pretty classy guy and is himself adamant about "no cheese" - he said he hates playing stuff like that because it reflects badly on him! He also doesn''t like country that much but he will play it if the bride and groom want it...

Ame ~ Carrie Underwood won this last American Idol... and she''s been doing Hershey''s commercials lately...

Thats exactly what my DJ said too. He almost cringed when I said "can you play ''who let the dogs out''?"

LOL

I draw the line at Hot Hot Hot.

It''s great tune for the lido deck on the love boat tho.

We''ve pretty much decided that if we have an all out wedding the only music we''re going to allow is anything by Tony Bennett (I love Dancing Cheek to Cheek), Frank Sinatra, Bobby Darin, and pretty much anything in that genre...and maybe a pianist.

I know, I know..it sounds really boring but whatever we do its going to be really small and intimate and most of my family is pretty old school (my grandmother had a crush on Old Blue Eyes

..she''d kill me if she knew I told on her, lol). Most of them would die if I played anything of today. But that''s fine by me because we both really love the music from that era.

Hahaha--I very nearly danced my first dance to "You Never Even Called Me By My Name" (it''s our last dance now). That being said, I can''t imagine someone requesting "The Humpty Dance" at a wedding.... Eep! Good call putting it on the Do Not Play list...

With our songs--we said no to any songs that have any sort of dance associated with them and no disco (save "Best of My Love" because that is such a guilty pleasure for me). We basically just want Motown and "Frat Rock" (late 60''s/early 70''s a la Animal House) played with a few classic modern songs thrown in.

I must say that this is hilarious.
I''ve been to so many weddings where by the end of the night, people were dancing
outrageously to ridiculousness!
Watching a bride dance to I Like Big Butts is something that I can take a pass on.
he he he.
I haven''t thought of any of this yet...but this will bring up some pretty funny conversations.
