Your little Yorkie is a cutie, by the way! Beer bottle's bigger than she is.

I agree and I've told him that. I think he's a great photographer and he should try to do something with it, but alas, he's a bartender.

Mara, Weims are wonderful dogs. We have two, both were rescue dogs. We use to have three. Have a Rott to round them out. No one wanted her either. She was born with bad hips. With this group I'll never have big diamonds...LOL

If This Works here is one of the Weims looking at ya.
btw, should these babies get next to a tree or wooden fence at night, you only see their yellow eyes glowing. Hence their other name. "Grey Ghost"

This is not where you want your 109 pd. Rott to sit but my daughter was laughing to hard to make her move

I have a very fond memory of weims. Never thought I was very artistic. I decided to take a drawing class. Our teacher was the greatest - teaching to draw lines, shading, etc & not what we saw as a whole. It perked my interest in Art again. Hence, my current (and long time career)

My point - she brought her Weim. to school with her everyday. It was the sweetest, coolest dog that would happily greet everyone as they arrived!

My MOH's dog is very beautiful as most of the Weims are, and with ice blue eyes. She is somewhat neurotic which I hear is typical with this breed. She was a rescue, which can be tough because you have no real idea what their life was like beforehand...all Nicole knows is that an older woman owned her and she kept her outside. So the first year Nicole had her, Sadie was a huge handful as she adjusted to her new life. Threw up alot, destroyed a few things in the house, was pretty skittish. She adjusted to being an inside princess, she is very spoiled and is the queen of giving attitude if you don't act as she pleases. I have never seen a dog throw attitude like Sadie. She sits like a person too, with her legs splayed out and square on her butt. She can still be skittish with noises and strangers, does alot of pacing if she is in unfamiliar surroundings, and like most dogs has no idea how large she is as she bounds through life (hence why I have a pair of broken sunglasses from her slamming into my face trying to say hello) and over everyone else. She's a cutie and the light of my MOH's life. However, now that I have my little white rat, I am definitely more partial to smaller dogs, when I spend time with Sadie, it's all long limbs and tongue...rather than small and furry rodent.

F&I, My son in law did a sketch of both my Weims for me last Christmas. He said their one of the best dogs to draw off of. I read in the other thread where your very good with dogs. My 8 year old female goes crazy when we come home. You can be gone for 5 minutes and she acts like it's five days. She barks and crys and goes crazy. We tried to ignore her but it didn't stop it. Any suggestion on how to curve this behavior. It drives me nuts.

Mara, Neurotic is not the word for these dogs. I feel sorry for your friend. If these dogs don't have a ton of human attention growing up they will eat your house from under you. Their both fine now, home alone and not caged. My male is very neurotic, my female on the other hand, now 8 years old, your lucky if you see her move. Even when company comes in she just sits up and looks at them. She doesn't want to go near them and doesn't want them near her. My daughter claims she's the only dog she's ever seen that you can't give love to. I can, but I'm mama...LOL....Little Dogs? I love them. Always had little dogs. I felt sorry for one Weim and other big dogs came my way. I will, sooner or later, have my soft, cuddly, easy to handle, small dog back. I miss them something awful.

It's quite the compliment & a release of stress! Yeah, ignoring the behaviour is usually the best first step. Short of that, you may try stuffing something in her mouth - but may not be appropriate if the dog doesn't carry around "babies" as all my SS's have done. What has worked for me is - I do the exact same greeting when I walk in the door. I say in a high but calm voice - "My Puppies". I then ignore & after a short time. I pet them in the exact same fashion every time. They are still happy to see me & will let me know - but in a more controlled fashion. Calming her down with a routine may be your best route.

Good luck. The weims I have know have been anything but neurotic as well. And, yes, my art teachers dog was our doggie model as well. Funny connection.

I looked for and found my love on match.com. One of my profile photos was of me and my sugar babies. It was important to me that a potential date knew straight away how important my (Devon Rex) cats are in my life. The first time Todd (aka cowboy1230) came over to my house to pick me up for a date, he suggested coming over a bit early so that he could meet Prince Angelo (below) and Princess Zoe (my avatar). We fell for him immediately and we've been together ever since.

I could go on and on about all three of them! Instead I'll just say that I am living a life with love that is beyond my wildest dreams and I never knew I could be so happy. I suspect that vast majority of you know exactly what I mean.

May we all live happily ever after...

Nice pictures everyone. I'll have to ask Jim if we can get a dog for our office. However, he's a cat owner, so I doubt we'll have success.....

Be creative. Tell him it's for security reasons...

That's a good idea. Of course that wouldn't work for me since Babie Gurl is scared of her own shadow...tee hee.

Luckily everyone here loves animals and love it when I bring her.

Elmo & Freddy strike again.

freddy_elmo_ps.jpg

I take Portia into work with me once every 2 weeks or so for a treat...she's a handful still as a puppy so I spend 1/2 the time chasing her around and 1/2 time working while she is there.
2.gif
Even on a leash she still manages to get into some trouble. 95% of my coworkers adore her (1 is a cat person). She LOVES the office and the new people and all the fun places to sniff and eat things that are not approved. Our house is puppy proofed...the office is definitely not! Oh, and she manages to pee on the rug there at least every other visit.
6.gif
Thank god the owner adores her too.

Jenn, your dogs are SO CUTE

They must be a real joy to have around the house. I have always thought it was nice to have two dogs because they can keep each other company, play with each other, etc. ... but then they can also get into MORE mischief.
I used to have two German Shepherds (pre websailor, sadly they have both passed on) and they used to chase each other around the yard, play fight with each other for the rawhides/balls/chewtoys, and would ALWAYS check each others dogfood bowls out because they thought the other had something better (just like kids would) even though that got the same kibble.

OMG all of these dogs are so cute i am about to lose my mind.

i just posted these on another thread, but here are MY babies. the first picture is of our male papillon, roosevelt. (his puppy picture is on my avatar.) he's almost 3 and weighs 13 pounds and is a total and complete LOVER. i think he'd marry me if he could. Edited to add: check out his puppy "ice"--a rhinestone "R".

here's little sophia; she is also a papillon and is 3 years old and weighs a whopping 6 pounds. (we like to say that she's "embarrasingly small"--she just never grew!) she's also a LOVER but as a female is much more independent than the velter, who would live his entire life on top of us if he could. she, on the other hand, sleeps UNDER our bed every night. she, too, has puppy ice.

and finally, here's one of the two little nuggets side-by-side.
