reena, they are absolutely adorable! I love how Sophia tilts her head to the side for the pictures. She knows she's adorable!

Well Jennifer's Elmo and Freddy inspired me to dig out some old pictures of my Labs, Tyler and Misty....

Believe it or not, these two were brother and sister in one litter!

I've gotta tell one story about them.... One night, we heard a noise outside our bedroom window - sounded like an intruder. Both Tyler and Misty (who slept next to our bed - Tyler, the male, on my side, and Misty, the female, on my ex's side), were both at the sliding glass door, wanting to check it out.

We flipped the lights on, didn't see anything, but the dogs still were at full alert. So we let them out... They both went out about ten feet and then stopped...noses sniffing, ears tuned, total alert stance. After checking for a bit, they looked at each other, touched noses, then Misty came back about 5 feet closer to us and stood still.

Tyler looked back to see that she was in place, then he went out farther, checked a bit, then trotted around the corner into the dark back yard. A minute later he came back, now at ease, went to Misty where they touched noses again, and then both of them came up to us, tails wagging signalling that everything was okay.

Ever after that, I thought about how they did that, and so I called them our "First line of defense (Tyler)", and our "Second line of defense (Misty)".

I swear it absolutely looked like a plan that they were deliberately executing!

Websailor, your dogs are magnificent. The picture with all three of you is just wonderful.

edited: cflutist--thanks for the compliment. They are wonderful dogs and certainly display many of the behaviors you described!

I just love dogs--they are truly a gift to us. Dog spelled backwards is "God." I believe dogs are pieces of God (or whatever--a master, spititual presence that is all good and all knowing--call Him or Her what you wish!

) here on Earth to help us through the journey.

I know--it's goofy but I think of them as such.

I love all these fur babies!!! Love the puppies!!!

Cowboy- I'm also a cat fanatic...mine like to cuddle too! And who says they are aloof ? Not my cats! Particularly Scotty who simply does not know he's not a dog. I've never met such an absolute mush who is so vocal and just MUST be held and loved!!!

Websailor...that's an awesome story. It's very strange how dogs act like such humans !!!!

Jennifer....I ditto your comment. They ARE gifts from up above.

I couldn't imagine life without our furry friends.

MMM, Alexah & Jennifer - thanks for the kitty kudos.

I grew up with dogs and horses a'plenty (folks still live on a ranch with several of each). After I left for college I came out of the closet as a cat person

Looking through this thread always puts a big grin on my face.

Whoa John...who would have thought you as a kitty lover...tee hee. They are so beautiful

LOL, D. Sorry about your allergies. I'll try never to bring kitty hair into your 'zone.'

You're right - most people assume that I sport a buff Fido. I'm usually "don't ask, don't tell" on my weakness for kitty cats.

Let's keep it up!

Just found this thread......Jenn, I TOTALLY agree about dog spelled backwards. Any creature that shows that much unconditional love is a manifistation of the divine in my book.

Here is my little Mattie looking none-too-thrilled about the snow. (I''m from CA but am still somewhat enthralled by the snow as I head into my 4th NYC winter.)

Dear websailor-

I don''t think you mentioned whether Tyler or Misty was the yellow Lab, but whichever one it is could be my dog, Biscuit''s, twin! I don''t have a close up of Biscuit on this computer. (At least I don''t think I do.) But I can post a shot from far away. The faces are the *same*!!!

Deborah

PS-How big are your two? Mine is a really, really big guy!

blueroses, that Mattie is just a little dolly doll!

I want to eat that little face (okay--I know --i have issues--I tell mine I''m going to ''eat them'' all the time

That''s a great shot in the snow too! You can really see his features. I am so happy he is fully back in business. Thank God!

Here is my Big Dog, Biscuit, in Connecticut. Labs are tough and he used to swim in Long Island Sound in the winter. This is just a local park, though!

Sometimes mom just won''t let you go run around outside. What else is there to do but sleep?

Tile is my favorite, but wood is nice, too.

OH MY !!! What cuties !!!

I would love to see snow. It''s been sooooooooooooo long since I''ve seen that white stuff. Could you guys send us some to Houston ??? PLEASE !!

Awwwwwww, thank you Jenn!!--I think the same thing about Elmo and Freddie!

I also think that doggies are YUM-worthy. I want to eat him too

Message to Elmo: Sit! No jumping! Look at mommy''s bling and be hypnotized into mellowness....you are getting verrrrry sleepy!

Wow, that Biscuit is an outdoorsy dog! My Mattie is a dainty boy and fakes a limp after a minute in the snow so I can CARRY him home.

I would like to post my photos and I cant figure it out, can I email someone with the photos who will kindly post them for me?

Thank you,

Lori

This is our youngest. She''s now almost 2 and still a tiger but at least she''s stopped drawing blood. We also have a 3 1/2 year old named Ashley. I''ll try to post her picture next since I don''t know how to do more than one.

This is our 3 1/2 year old. She''s got a lot of medical problems but we''re working on them. She''s a sweetheart and we love her like crazy.

Okay, I''m trying this again. I''m not good at this. This is Charlotte.

Okay, if this doesn''t work, I give up. Charlotte on her first day here!
