When is it best to ask people to do a reading?

When is it best to do this? Should you ask people 1 month before the wedding, 2 months...?

We asked our readers about a month in advance, but I don''t know if there''s really a "best" time. Ours were my uncle and DH''s cousin, both of whom are pretty laidback, so we knew they didn''t need a lot of advance notice. Other people might prefer having months to practice! Of course, I didn''t even finalize the readings until a couple weeks before, so it''s a good thing we picked the laidback folks...

This probably won''t help, but we asked ours when I asked the flower girl and the program passer-outers over Christmas because they were at the family function, so it just seemed appropriate. Who are you planning on asking? Do you see them on a regular basis? I would do it kinda soon in case they say no and you have to find new people, and so they can look at the readings so they are familiar with them.

Thanks for the input! I was thinking asking a month out would be good but I wasn''t sure. I''m planning on asking my cousin (well, my cousin''s 15 year old daughter) to do a reading that I actually had my students write last year. I asked them to write about what a good friend and then I asked them to finish the thought "Love is..." They came out great! I had wanted someone a little younger (closer to my students'' ages) to do this reading but my cousin''s daughter is a natural in front of large audiences. I''m not so sure about some of our younger guests/famly members. I was also thinking of asking a friend and/or another family member to read something else. We''re not quite sure how many readings we''ll do. We don''t want to overdo it but we want enough for a 30 minute ceremony.

I think about a month before is good. D was asked to do readings at his friend''s wedding last year and he was asked about a month before also, so we''re going to ask about that time too.
