I've read all about how cut is king. I'm trying to find an M SI2 that is 1.5ct, eye clean, beautiful. It's going in yellow gold.

My girlfriend told me to come here if I needed help. What can I say? I'm no fool - I do what I'm told haha. Budget for the stone is $3500-4000.

I have found options on James Allen and Brian Gavin. Brian Gavin was too expensive. Where else can I find M diamonds? Has to be M because her name starts with an M and that's what shed like.

And for the record, she might sound picky or specific but actually I've had to sneakily grill her over the past year to get this info out of her. I just want her to love what I give to her, I want it to be perfect, and kind of a surprise but in the way that it's that surprise you actually wanted. Thanks for any help you can give me. New websites to look or specific stone recommendations. I'm grateful.

Oh I meant to add excellent cut, if it wasn't obvious.

Does she actually know what an M color looks like?

She sounds like she has excellent taste. I love warm colour diamonds. If I were you I’d look for a brownish tint instead of a yellower stone - it goes better with most skin tones. I think you’re quite right to prioritise cut, and you can definitely get an eye clean stone at SI clarity.

My advice would be to really take your time and see every stone in detail. Don’t rely on written stats. It’s even more important when going for a warmer colour and a slightly more included stone.

edited to add - check out an antique stone - maybe an old European cut. There are some amazing vintage gems in warmer colour which have such incredible personality.

I thought I’d throw this out there as you don’t specifically say it needs to be round! Beautifully cut, they are stunning stones, and to me anyway they look better in slightly lower colours. Definitely check with your girlfriend that she’d like a cushion and an antique cut to boot though - it wouldn’t be a blind choice I’d make without knowing someone’s personal preference. It’s slightly above budget and totally fails your Si2 requirement, but in a very good way!

Here’s another Old European Cut from another source:

I think this is just what you’re looking for - clarity is slightly better and price at the higher end but it’s a stunning stone in the right size and colour with an exceptional cut.

Alex Park on IG often posts lower colour stones, though you have to be quick to snap them up! He had a couple of cushions last night, if I remember correctly.
