I am really curious about where PSers find these beautiful gemstones! I mostly shop on gem rock auctions and sometimes on Etsy. I have never purchased directly from a vendor website before, but those seem to be best if you're looking for something specific, unique or special.

Curious about where you buy most of your stones.

I can't vote more than 1 option?

I shop from vendor's websites, eBay, second market websites and although I browse Etsy a lot, I have not purchased from Etsy. I think I've only bought from a physical shop once when the item I wanted was 30% off. One day I'll be brave and confident enough to shop from IG.

I shop very specific stones 95% of the time.

I think you’ll find that we buy from all sorts of places—from PS vendors, gem fairs, physical shops, eBay, Etsy, IG, LT, TheRealReal, local listings, from each other! Most PSers are excellent, top-tier shoppers who know how to get top value for their money. Also, when we’re focused on one particular gemstone type, we look everywhere.

Imo, Loupetroop is the best place to purchase preloved gems and jewelry if you’re within shipping range. Such great deals! Other than that it depends very much on what you’re looking for.

Mostly in person pre Covid (stores, traders, jewelry/gem shows). Now a lot more online and yes everywhere online.

In the beginning, I purchased from eBay. This was probably 15-20 years ago. After discovering PS, I switched to recommended vendors. (I had an account way back when, but lost my login info and changed emails.) I bought a lot from Etsy, mainly Yvonne because I had her make jewelry. Then along comes Instagram as a selling platform, and that's my go-to now. I've spent a small fortune there. :oops2:

Just want to sayFB is just as good and in my opinion better with more varety than Instagram. While insagram has many good vendor there is literally 1000's to pick from on FB.

Do you create a separate FB account for this? As I never do any transactions there since I feel like family and acquaintances are virtually breathing over my shoulder .

You buy through private messages. No one need know what you buy. You go to the vendor's page or business page or the literally 100's of gemstone sales groups to find a stone you like. If you find one you message the vendor and go from there.
