So I ordered my gown on August 31st, a full year before the wedding (Sept. 6). Wanted to be on top of things, with this wedding, and not have to rush anything at the last minute. They told me it would be ready in six months (really?) and they put a promise date of February 15th, in writing, on my receipt.

Well, here it is, March 10th and my dress is still not in. They told me "don''t worry, dear, you still have a lot of time before your wedding...the dress will be in." But regardless of whether I have a lot of time before the wedding or not, I''m still kinda peeved over the principal that the dress is still not ready after all this time.

Does this happen a lot? Is there some kind of retribution I should be getting? Is it really the dress maker''s fault (as she said - "The Maggie Sotteros have been behind lately"), or did she hold my order instead of putting it in right away? Or should I not worry??

I believe Maggie Sottero has a history of being behind schedule. You do still have lots of time, so I wouldn''t worry just yet.

My Casablanca was supposed to be in last month, so I''m starting to wonder the same thing here. My wedding''s in May! I would just keep trying to call the bridal shop from where you ordered the dress.

ugh that''s irritating. I hope that it comes in soon for you! I completely understand that it''s the principle of the dress not being there when they said it was.

That is very annoying! Why do wedding dresses take so long? And not the super expensive ones that they custom make for you. I mean the ones that they order for you in a size 2 or 8 or whatever. Why does it take so long? If i order from Victoria''s Secret or Banana Republic it only takes 4-6 weeks. I know my Alfred Angelo dress was sitting in a wearhouse somewhere before I even got engaged. Why does it take so long?????

Grrrrr...I would be so mad! All the anticipation! I''m practically counting down the days until I get my gown...and if they make me wait any longer for it, I''d cry. I''ll bet they''re taking advantage of the fact that you ordered so early. They''re probably saying to themselves, "oh please, she still has MONTHS...no need to rush this one."

Still...I''m sorry they''re doing this to you!!

Uh oh...I hope this doesn't mean Casablanca is behind, too!

When did you order your dress, and when did they tell you it would be in?

I feel like I am pushing it with having to wait until June to get mine w/a July wedding as it is...they told me 3-4 months.

This.can.not.be.good!

Please keep us updated as to when your dress arrives!

I'll keep my fingers crossed for you misy!!!

ETA: I'm sorry you're having to deal w/this tberube...I hope your dress comes in soon, too! (I am obviously medicated and have totally forgotten my manners! Please forgive me!)

Sorry to thread jack a little.

Thanks Harleigh! I ordered my dress in November and Casablanca told the store 2-23-08 as the ship date. Luckystar just told me in another thread that our dress shop (we ordered Casablancas from the same place) had her dress in for goodness knows how long and hadn't contacted her. I'm going to give them a call tomorrow and MAKE them check.

I really hope that Casablanca isn't behind, as well. I'll keep you posted on the status if I hear anything useful!

For the Casablanca brides...I had a Casablanca rushed last summer and it was here in a month or so. So just in case, they can be had quickly, and Casablanca is a really good company to deal with if something needs to be rushed.

That said, I am sure they will come in soon!!!!!!

LOL, neatfreak! I think I am getting your same dress-you were such a beautiful inspiration....so....if mine doesn''t get here in time, can I borrow yours???

Just kidding! I remember your saying how wonderful Casablanca was....Pearl''s Place quoted me $135 to rush it but had originally said 3 months when I placed the order. I decided not to rush it, then when they called me with the confirmation, they stated that it wouldn''t be in until the 2nd or 3rd week in June....aaaghhhh!

I told the gentleman on the phone my concerns and he said if I didn''t have it in hand by June 1st, to call and speak to him about it and he''d hunt my dress down...not really sure what he can do about it at that point, but at least that''s something to go on, I suppose.

I''m glad we''re all in the same boat together...let''s pray all our dresses get here in PLENTY of time!!!

Hey Harleigh...since we''re on the subject of wedding gowns...did you ever take that final count?

So...am I getting the picture right that I''m not the only person who has to wait forEVER for their dress to come in? How can that be ethical??

I would be a little upset about that especially considering how much time in advance you ordered the dress. I don''t understand why it takes so long to get a dress. They told me 4 months for my dress which means I won''t be getting it until the 2nd or 3rd week of June and I have to get alterations. So I called and asked her if she could put a rush on my dress because I''m getting married July 12th and I would hate for something to happen at the last minute. So for an additional $30 I''ll have it May 9th.

hmmm - i ordered my Maggie Sottero dress back in June and it arrived within 3 months! I had heard about how long Maggie''s take to arrive, so I ordered early anticipating the slow ship date! I was so shocked to get a call LESS than 3 months later that my dress was in....maybe I ordered before the rush?? hmmm....

Anything for another fab PSer!

No advice. Just comisseration. I''d start stalking them with calls every other day. If they give you the ''you''ll have it in plenty of time'' crap tell them their contract says you would have it already, to cut the crap and get your gown to ASAP.

Okay tberube. Give your bridal shop a call this week, next week, the week after. Make them tell you where your dress is. They should be able to call the dress company as well to get you an answer. I''m going to do the same on my dress, and we can report back our findings! Good luck hunting down your dress!

I don''t think Casablanca is behind. At least my dress came quickly. I ordered my on September 29th and it arrived January 3rd. That''s right at 3 months. :) Don''t stress.

Oh, neatfreak, you are just too sweet! I''ll keep ya in mind if I get in a bind! Or, I could just wear a bikini...it''s Maui after all, right???

Thanks for being such a great PS''er!!!

I heard that one of the reasons it takes so long is due to the factory production schedule. When they make a dress, they make all the size 2s one day, the size 4s the next, etc... as they cycle through the designs. And the options. I was told this about bridesmaid dresses because it took MONTHS to get my AA bridesmaid dresses!! I was livid.

My wedding gown did arrive the exact week my shop told me it would, but it was a private collection so I imagine they had a better insight to the schedule, or it could have been in weeks before but they waited until they told me it would be in to send it to me. I doubt that though because it was such a high volume shop that they wouldn''t have the space for that.

I hope everyone gets their gowns soon!
