Thanks for all your help and suggestions!
The stone I saw in the mall(u call it maul) was a princess cut with 1.25ct, and had dimensions of 6.22mm x 6.__mm x ___mm ...I think for a princess cut that's about a correct dimension for that carat weight, right? This means the length from corner to corner would be around 7.5mm to 8mm which means it's about the right length.
I actually emailed Mark Morrell and he replied. I'll let you know how it goes.----------------
Your seems like a very informed, straight forward, efficient buying process already. Not that there are too many clear shots like this around
There isn't much my typing fingers seemed urged to add to this thread, but here is one:
Princess cuts have more variable proportions than the already rather stricly defined rounds: this simply means that carat weight does not really guarantee a certain size (as in saying that a well-cut round of 1.25 should be 7mm diameter) so, if you have started by deciding what size (side length and diagonal for the aquare princess) the stone should be, you may want to start looking for this measure and a good cut rather than a certain carat weight. Surely you must have known this before my posting... but there were quite a few questions about such considerations.
Will you be looking for a princess cut with good light return, or do you have other "optimizing parameters" in mind?
