I''ve really never ventured into colored gems, so please bear with me....

I''m looking into side stones to pair with my 0.52RB. I''m thinking pear in shape but round is good too. However, I''m open to any shape.

I''d prefer sapphires. As far as color, blue and pink are my preference, but then again, open to any color as long as it''s vivid!

Any recommened sites?

I bet Chrono might know of some, she should check in sometime and may be able to give you some pointers!

Matched pairs are more difficult to find on your own, especially so in smaller sizes. I would normally contact a dealer to help me, especially if I want vivid top notch ones. A couple of things you MUST know before you start your search:

1. What is the mm size of your RB?
2. What is the proportion you are looking for? Slightly smaller than the center stone, or do you want to accentuate the center stone?

I would suggest rounds - much easier to find matched pairs.

Thank you, Lorelei & Chrono!

I'm want the side stones to be smaller in relation to the center 1/2 ct rb.

Stats:
Weight 0.52 ct.
Shape ROUND BRILLIANT
Color E
Clarity SI1
Measurements 5.14 - 5.11 x 3.26 mm
Depth 63.6
Table 56.0
Crown 15.8
Pavilion 44.0
Girdle THIN TO MEDIUM
Polish GOOD
Symmetry GOOD
Fluorescence NONE
Culet NONE

What vendor would you recommend I email my inquiry?

Since your center RB is about 5 mm, then the round sides should be approximately 3 mm, and not any larger if you want the center diamond to stand out. That''s the measurement I had on my previous RHR. This calculation was done by Wink and he sourced the extremely vivid sapphires for me, and had the setting completed for me too. He''s at www.winkjones.com

Others who can do these include Gary Dutton at www.diamondexpert.com
I know that Whiteflash now helps find coloured sidestones and GOG has been doing so for quite a while. However, I have not seen their selection thus feel unqualified to comment on them.

Thanks, Chrono!

I emailed Wink yesterday

Just waiting for him to get back to me on a quote. I''m actually going to set my new 0.93 H&A into a diamond and ruby setting

! I got a pic posted in the SMTR thread! I hope I can afford the nasty gold price!

You are welcome.

With the nasty prices of gold and platinum today, I''m waiting it out too before I set my remaining gemstones.

Hmmm, I just heard via the Rappaport Newswire that Tiffany will be putting up prices shortly due to increased plat. prices - seem a lot of others are doing so already.

Time to stockpile those sparklies I think.
