where to stay in Aix en Provence?

We''re going to Aix in August. I''m looking for somewhere near Cours Mirabeau and good dining and shopping, $125 to $225 a night. Somewhere with clean rooms, A/C, etc. I''ve had enough surprises with stinky, dingy rooms in Europe claiming to be 3 star hotels. Any suggestions?

I don''t have any suggestions, but can I just tell you how jealous I am!?!?! My favorite vacation of all time was in Cannes, France. The whole Provence area is absolutely gorgeous! Be sure to take a picture in a lavender field for me!
