I have until next Tuesday to make a decision, and i''ve narrowed it down to 4 stones. All 4 stones are similar shape & cut(Modified Square Hearts & Arrows).

1) .82ct G IF
2) .77ct E VVS1
3) .87ct D VS1.....Costs $1000 more than 1 & 2
4) .94ct F VS1......Costs $2000 more than 1 & 2 (the inclusion is at the corner, so would most likely be covered by prong.)

I dont have alot of experience with diamonds and i''m buying these from Good Old Gold online, so i dont have the luxury of comparing them in person. I''m a little nervous about getting a VS1, but I always read that you cannot see the inclusions with the naked eye....is that true? The 3rd one has a bunch of tiny ''clouds'', and the 4th one has one inclusion in the corner.

I''d appreciate your opinions.....I only have 1 shot at this and I want to do it right! THANKS! Eric

Hi epc,

Can you post the links please or images of the diamonds? VS1 in those sizes should be eyeclean, but check with GOG anyway if you are concerned. Jon at GOG might be able to send you some more pics of the diamonds or do a video for you if you ask him.

Maybe i''m not being specific about my worries, because those stones are very similar. What it comes down to is that I love the .82 G IF for the price, but i''m worried about the ''G'' color.
I''ll be setting it in a Platinum setting from Van Craeynest, and have been told that the color will show more against platinum, but that a G color should be fine.
Will there be a noticeable difference between a ''E'' Color and a ''G'' color of the same size, quality, & cut stone?

If you were comparing them side by side you might notice a slight difference, but when it is set and by itself I doubt you''d notice any difference at all.

Ok, maybe this will make it easier to help me decide...i''ve narrowed it down to 2 stones....either #1 or #3

1).82ct G IF
2).87ct D VS1(about $1500 more)

I''m leaning towards #1...if they were the same price, i''d say #2 though. I''ve been told that its completely ''eye clean''.
Thanks!

Go with the one you feel is the right diamond, G colour will still be very white so shouldn''t be an issue there if you choose that one.

I have had a G diamond and it always looked completely white to me. Also, this was pre-pricescope and was IGI certified, so really it was probably more like an H. But, again, looked colorless.

Hope that helps!
