@caribbeanbridetobe My immediate thought would be how often are you planning on wearing the ring as opals are much less hard wearing than sapphire and emerald?

@caribbeanbridetobe Opal has a mohs hardness of 5.5- 6.5 so would be much more vulnerable to scratches etc than a sapphire.
I love opals and wear them occasionally.
Dust has a Mohs hardness of 7, since there's lot of quartz in dust. So you can't just wipe an opal to clean it off.
It is my opinion that generally emerald and cushion cuts look good with tapered baguette setting, and most opals are not cut in those shapes, so definitely no from me.
It really depends on what stone you prefer. With the right cut, either emerald or sapphire (more colors available in sapphire since I'm thinking not only blue but pink and yellow and purple as well) will look good.
My favorite CS with baguettes ring would be @Acinom's gorgeous avatar. But I don't think many of us would be able to replicate it even if we wanted to.
I think the better question is what metal is the mounting and what shape are the faceted stones? I don't think colorless diamonds "go" better with any of the three center stones you mentioned.
I've seen tapered baguettes flank every conceivable center stone. I tend to associate that layout with a round-cut center stone (usually RBC diamond) and that's not my favorite shape for emerald or sapphire.
