I just keep second guessing myself, one moment I love one setting, the next I love the other!

I am looking to set my Fancy Deep Yellow RB with Green Fluor, it is only about 6mm-so pretty small. With it being a small stone I decided it for sure needs to have a halo setting. I've been on the search for sometime and as you all know I really love color. So came up with these 2 options. The first is an actual photo and the second is photoshopped-so looks really cartoony!

Sorry, I added a poll-but it disappeared!!!

Oh, about the settings, I really like the left one (let''s call it #1); it compliments the color and shape of the stone IMO
2.gif

#1 on the left for me too - no contest! Your diamond takes central stage. With #2 my eye was drawn to the pink halo and your diamond took 2nd place. The clash of the two colours may also be difficult to work in real life.

If it''s any consolation, I get tied in knots matching settings, designs, stones, colours of gold etc!

I do love that setting alot, my only issue with setting #1 is that it is 18kt YG/WG and setting #2 is Plat/18ktRG and I really prefer Plat.

If I don''t set the FDY RB in setting #1 I think I will be setting my round red spinel in it.

Thanks for your opinion LD! The pink diamonds in setting #2 will be subtle, so I don't think that they will overpower the RB at all-it is such a deep, unique color on its own-I don't think IRL it will be a problem at all :) I wish I had the setting here to take a photo of them together, I think it wouldn't be so scary looking! I have been waiting for a really long time to set this RB-I hate indecision---ahhhh
20.gif

I really like the first setting better. There''s just something about the pink diamonds with the yellow. For me they kind of clash.

Thanks Catmom! I really figured that the first setting would be the choice of the masses :)

I''d go with #1 as well. It just seemed like there was too much going on with setting #2 that took away from the yellow.

the triple halo look... so another vote for 1

Stepcutnut,
You know I'm a fan of that diamond, and I really think it has an amazing presence no matter what the setting you put it in. I actually think if you do #2, it won't be as bad as everyone thinks, and of course, it might even pop more against the pink. I have a green diamond in a pink gold setting, and it pops in there. My green diamond has a strong grey cast, and the pink gold helps. However, your diamond is just amazing, and I love the contrast of the green and yellow against the pink (reminds me of springtime colors), so do what makes your heart sing in this case. To tell you the truth, I'm kind of sick to death of the same old yellow diamond in the white or yellow gold boring setting, and this ring will have all the colors of spring in it (yellow, green and pink).
36.gif
Add to that this is no boring yellow diamond, and the color is so amazing, that I think it will just pop in that pink gold even more!! I think the second setting also takes advantage of gold colors quite nicely.

OMG, that diamond is so beautiful, it's up there with some of my favorite colored gems on this forum.

I vote #2 all the way!!!

Thanks brandy! I don''t think that setting #2 will be as busy as people think, but that being said I do really love setting #1-just wish it was Plat and 18kt!!!

Thanks TL! It is a really crazy diamond-probably too crazy for most, but I really love it :)

I do think that the photoshop pic is a little overwhelming and don't think it will really be as frightening as most think!
I have another pink halo ring that I held the RB next and it really does make the stone 'pop'.

I love love love your green/pink 3 stone ring, one of my favs :)

I love that the second setting is Plat too, the FDY RB with green fluor is a rare combo-so I kind of think it needs an extra special home!!!

We'll see, hubby gave me the go ahead on that setting if I want to get it-but I am still a little unsure!

That second combination looks so amazing and designer to me. If you need to give it a good home, you can send it to me (LOL! - not that you would really do that, but I thought I would try
27.gif
). People are saying that the diamond might disappear in the second setitng, but if anything, I think it would disappear in the first. However, you would still have a hard time making such a vibrant colored diamond disappear.
9.gif
You could put that stone in a bucket, and it wouldn''t disappear.

While I absolutely adore the second setting, the first setting really compliments the stone. I think the stone is too neony for the second setting.

You see, and that's precisely why I like it - it would make the stone pop even more. If you want to downplay the stone, then I would do the first setting.

I have a yellow diamond in a white gold setting with a yellow bezel. It is nice, but it bores me a little.

I am not sure of the jewelers return policy, but if it is good-I might purchase the setting and have them send it out so I can see it IRL with my stone!

I think that would be great! While I love the second setting the stone doesn''t look "right" in it and I''m sure it''s just because of the photoshopping. I''d really want to see it IRL!
9.gif
You''re neon yellow diamond is droolworthy for sure and needs a heck of a setting to showcase it.
18.gif

I am not sure if this helps the cause or not, but I did another photoshop with the RB showing the same colors.

I think I really need to see the setting IRL with the stone to make my final decision, I hope that they will allow the setting to be sent out to me and return it if need be!

OMG - a floating halo in #1 WOW!

It sounds like your heart is set on #2 so perhaps it is best for you to get it for a look. At the end of the day, you've got to wear it and love it!!!!

LD-I honestly really like both settings, I think that there are pros and cons to each and that is what is making my decision so tough!!! I could easily live with either I think, but want to make the right decision the first time around! I have been looking for so long now for the right setting, that these 2 are really my favs at the moment.

Ooo and I did find out that I can have the 2nd setting sent out for review! I may have to do that!!!

Yes I think you need need need to see the second setting with your stone. IRL it may look very different than the photoshopped look.

Good Luck with this decision!

Agreed. The best thing is to have the setting and stone in hand so you can see it for yourself.

Stone Hunter and Chrono-I think I will order the setting and see what it looks like IRL with my stone!!!
