I am buying a 1.00 carat diamond E VS2, probably GIA. It''s for a ring, to be set & mounted in platinum, with tapering baguette shoulders.

The problem is I cannot decide on which shape to get. I personally love the Cushion & Asscher (probably love the Cushion more.) I read somewhere that Round Brilliant is the best shape for maximum brilliance and fire. Can someone please advise?

Thank you.

Welcome to the forum! You'd probably get more responses in Rocky Talky, but here it goes.

All things being equal, you'd get considerably more brilliance in a RB. No one, though, chooses a fancy shape if that's the main consideration. I, for instance, am very fond of squarish and cushion shapes, so I'm perfectly happy sacrificing light return. I'd suggest you go to local high-end jewelers and look at as many diamonds as possible until you figure out what you want. Good luck on your search!

A Regent cut may be your answer...cushiony shaped, but RB fire :-)

Check the pics of mine or Good Old Golds Website

Best of luck in your search
