My wedding set is white gold and I swear I can see a yellow tint already and I just had them redipped

My husband is against resetting it in platinum but this thing is getting expensive!
Any tips on how to convince him to let me get a different setting?

Figure out how often it has to be dipped x the cost over x number of years?

Sounds like a good idea to me.

well, hate to be snarky but gold is yellow. why did you buy white GOLD?

LadyKemma- My hubby picked them out without any input from me

and I just think he didn''t know anything about the upkeep involved.

well, then, go get what you want. explain to hubby that "this ring is just isn''t working for me. my body chemistry is ruining the ring... everytime i look at this ring it gets me upset...i would like, in the next year to budget and plan for a platinum setting."

don''t give him a choice.

hee, hee maybe I''ll try that!

It is your body chemistry so there is really nothing you can do about it besides resetting it into PLT (or YG). Do you have a birthday coming up? Maybe you can convince him of a reset for a holiday.

maybe -- get accustomed to the buttery yellow of so called white gold. maybe it will grow on you.

i like the color of the white gold alloy, and I hate the color of rhodium. platinum turns gray. the white white color of rhodium is only a temporary look anyway.

as a chemistry teacher, it''s just a bunch of elements. and sometimes i get on my soapbox that "gold is yellow", folks.

hey, don''t let me run you off with my manner of speaking. read my wry comments with a texas accent.

Do you think there is a chance he would go for paladium instead? It is a less expensive alternative to Plat. Or is he just opposed to resetting it period?

Maybe the problem is that a few months ago I had my e-ring redipped cause after 3 years of wear I could really notice a yellow tinge... I probably should have had my wedding band dipped too at that time but didn't because it was still white. Maybe if I have just have them both dipped again I won't be able to tell a difference between the two as much and they will yellow at the same rate...

My hubby is a very sentimental guy and I think it just hurts his feelings that I'm not 100% happy with somthing he put so much thought into buying... I guess I can see his point in the matter too.

Is there ever a problem over time with redipping this often? My ring has grooves in the band....these won't fill in over time will they?

I got my e-ring in wg as well and have to redip it every 6 months. My upgrade someday willl definitely be platinum. If you own your ring for about 5 years or longer it makes sense to get platinum.

I agree with the suggestions above about explaining the cot of the redipping, the hassle, and how it''s not working with your body. Tell him you love the style of the ring he picked out, but that you really would like to have it in platinum.
