Hello Ladies! It is my first BWW post so I will give you a quick rundown. We are getting married in an outdoor ceremony in the Hunter Valley vinyards October 2009 which will be Spring here in Australia. I have chosen a dress and veil, and I am now deciding on the shade of white and was wondering how others have chosen. Is it better to go classic white so I stand out or go champagne for a more romantic soft feel? I will be trying on the different colours again soon, so do you think it is wise to go there with a spray tan to see which goes best? Unfortunately I dont have a pic of the dress as they dont allow cameras in the store. How did you girls decide, or do you think I will just ''know'' when I try them on?

What looks best on you? I chose an ivory gown because white was too harsh on my very pale complexion. Ivory flatters most while white looks best on some, but not all. Try on the colors themselves and see what looks best on you.

I agree, just try them on. Any of them will look "white" at the wedding, it''s just a matter of which shade looks best on you.

Thanks Ladies,
Sounds like a silly question now that i think about it!!

So easy to get caught up with all this decision making, and make it more complicated than it needs to be. I will try them on again and let you know how it goes!

Hello fellow Aussie!!!

Sounds like you are going to have a gorgeous wedding in the Hunter Valley

wine!!!

I chose ivory as white looked too stark against my skin, but still looked like I was wearing a ''white dress''. You will know which one to chose when you put the samples next to your skin. Bear in mind though, each designers ''ivory'' or ''white'' will be slightly different so check with your salon.

Which dress did you decide on? Do you have any links? We would love to see it

Thanks Honey22, I am excited about our venue- it is going to be beautiful!! Where is your big day going to be?

Here is a pic of the dress. Can I just say though, it really doesnt look anything like this in person. It is far more detailed with lace, beading and crystals on the bodice and the applique into the skirt is to die for. There is a satin underlay with a soft tule over the skirt. This I think is the white version. The ivory is more towards yellow and the Champagne more towards pink. http://www.bridesdesire.com.au/showcase_dress.php?var=Cassandra

I''m always interested to hear which color people choose and why, so please do report back with your thoughts!

My dress only came in one color (antique ivory), so I had no decision-making there... but I actually preferred the look on stark white on me, if I''d been choosing free of style influence. That''s contrary to all the advice I read stating that a softer white like ivory/champagne is better suited to a skin tone like mine (VERY pale with pink undertones). Go figure!

Honey22- your wedding is going to be nothing short of spectacular!! What a place!

Musey- I think it will be a toss up between white and champagne, but will let you guys know!

Thankyou ozsparkle, we are thrilled with out venue, it''s really our dream come true wedding.

Keep us updated on your dress, and do share your other details with us too. Have you decided on a venue? Maybe you can link it?

I haven''t purchased my dress yet, but I think I am going to go for diamond white.. just because

Your dress is amazing! I like it in white, but I''m sure it is just as lovely in champagne and the color might bring out more of the detail. In the end, you really should wear the color that looks best on YOU.

I chose ivory as it suited my skin tone best. White was just a bit too harsh against my skin tone.

I chose Champagne (it's a very very light copper color) because it just looks so much better with my skin tones than white or ivory did. I did notice a lot of Ivory dresses, when not near the diamond white dresses. Looked very white as well.

Your dress is beautiful

I surprisingly liked all of the different shades on me, but I went to one of those "off the rack" type places and just ended up with "diamond white" because that''s the color that the dress I liked most happened to be. I think I would have loved it in starck white too, but I didn''t care too much either way.

I didn''t go in set on one color. I tried dresses on for their style rather than their color and ended up purchasing an ivory dress which I never thought I''d do. Just try on different colors, and then you can determine what looks best on your skin tone.

Hello ladies,
I am going to try on my dress this weekend and decide on the colour! Thank you for you input and advice and I will let you know what I decide! Im thinking white at this point, but will ley you know and hopefully attach some pics of me in it!! Cant Wait!

I liked white white the best on me, so that is what I ordered. Unfortunately, the salon screwed up and the dress came in diamond white (and too big, I actually still wonder if they gave me the wrong dress).

I am pretty pale with neutral to slightly pink undertones, and the champagne dresses just seemed to blend in with my skintone. White provided the most contrast, and I liked it best in person. Honestly, though, in pics the diamond white turned out quite nicely, so I''m happy with the final results.

I''d base it on the wedding colors. For instance if you are doing silver, white looks best, reds look better with ivory.

I will choose ivory. White just does not look good on me as I am SOOOO pale. Champagne was a bit too dark. But make sure you look at the samples of your dress as they do vary between dresses/designers. I cannot wait to see pictures!
