Plans to update where we are tomorrow continue, and what remains unchanged is getting together the weekend of 8/20 & 21. At this point, however, I''d like to know if anyone also requires that the determination of whether we meet on Saturday or Sunday be known prior to...say...August 1st (as Kaleigh''s requirements have changed). Personally, since people''s needs and schedules change with some frequency, I''m not in favor of firming something up arbitrarily, if there''s not a perceived need to do this. But, if people do need to know prior to 8/1, I''d like to know now (either on this board, or as a pm). Still, tomorrow I''ll share the best info I have.Date: 6/26/2005 11:56:07 PM

Oops...I feel a bit awkward being the one to say...so with this post of yours, Kaleigh, if I haven''t already assumed the job of coordinating, I''ll do so now.Date: 6/26/2005 11:06:03 PM

Ira,
I really need to know the firm dates of this get together, is it still on for August 20th??????
Based on what seems to have been an acceptable original proposal from all the people that I''ve communicated with, I''m going to propose firming this up for Saturday, August 20 from 11 - 3, with a noon lunch. (Obviously, people can (a) come earlier, (b) stay later, and/or (c) ignore this proposed schedule at will).
One person had suggested advancing the start of lunch to 1; another suggested making it Sunday instead. I''ll further suggest that any votes going to a) either of these two options, or b) any other variation, based on maintaining a connection with the Gem Show that weekend, come forward either on this forum, or as a PM to me -- in the next 72 hours. Then on Thursday, I''ll declare (whatever the outcome of that discussion over the next 72 hours) an ostensible done deal...at least insofar as I''d be committed to it, along with anyone else that would like to join me.
OK?
Best,
Actually, though the Gem show is happening over 3 days -- and so you can spend as much time as you want there -- I'll take the opportunity a bit short of the 72 hour window for discussion to run up the flag what looks like the intended suggestion to make firm tomorrow the plan we're concocting is for us to have approximately one half day session, making that:Date: 6/29/2005 6:48:43 PM

Hmm, so Saturday meet for lunch and relaxing, then sunday the gem show. This all taking place on August 20th and 21st. Sounds like fun. Any more information going around? Would love to put some screen names with some faces. I have been browsing the forum for a long time, but unable to post because my fiance was lurking around here and I did not want to give anything away.
Hopefully so, and stay tuned vis-a-vis that shirt.Date: 6/29/2005 7:30:15 PM

Sounds like you guys will have a blast! I''m in Atlanta, so too far for a drive.
I am interested in the Land''s End polo style ''Pricescope'' logo shirt!!! Is Leonid up for providing the logo to Land''s End? Sounds like a really simple process for ordering with going to Land''s End direct. I also like having a choice of colors!!! Leonid could also put a link to the Land''s End website with the shirt for purchase on the front page of the forum.
Great ideas...everybody!!

Seeing there may be new folks on board from DC, I''m bumping this forward.
Regards,
Nice link, Ira. I have been attending these shows for more than 10 year and am very familiar with most of the vendors highlited in the article. I''ve purchased from several of them and have nothing but good things to say of my experiences. Like the article states, you always have to be *careful* when purchasing jewelry, whether from a local B&M, internet vendor, or a vendor at the show. Some people have the impression that the items sold at these shows are second-rate goods or poor-quality stones which is not the case at all.Date: 8/7/2005 4:07:04 PM

Coconut (and my other friends here),
You can read about it here.
I haven''t been either, but the hope is that is may be a personal opportunity to go trinket shopping, learn a bit about how to shop, and perhaps make acquaintance with some of the people I''ve been talking with for now, in my case, a baker''s dozen of months.
Regards,
