Oh, yes, that sounds really easy to order!

So I was perusing the intergem website and found out we can get coupons for $1 off the admission. Its only $7 in the first place, but still $1 off!

They have a link under specials, where you put in your name & info and a coupon pops up. Here is the direct link to the coupon...hopefully it works:

I also checked over the list attending after Ira told me to bring a guy with me...unfortunately I think my bf is going to take a pass...Sorry Ira, it is just going to be you and the girls!!

I would definatly get one, and prolly for my BF too.

Ira,
I really need to know the firm dates of this get together, is it still on for August 20th??????
Oops...I feel a bit awkward being the one to say...so with this post of yours, Kaleigh, if I haven''t already assumed the job of coordinating, I''ll do so now.

Based on what seems to have been an acceptable original proposal from all the people that I''ve communicated with, I''m going to propose firming this up for Saturday, August 20 from 11 - 3, with a noon lunch. (Obviously, people can (a) come earlier, (b) stay later, and/or (c) ignore this proposed schedule at will).

One person had suggested advancing the start of lunch to 1; another suggested making it Sunday instead. I''ll further suggest that any votes going to a) either of these two options, or b) any other variation, based on maintaining a connection with the Gem Show that weekend, come forward either on this forum, or as a PM to me -- in the next 72 hours. Then on Thursday, I''ll declare (whatever the outcome of that discussion over the next 72 hours) an ostensible done deal...at least insofar as I''d be committed to it, along with anyone else that would like to join me.

OK?

Best,
Plans to update where we are tomorrow continue, and what remains unchanged is getting together the weekend of 8/20 & 21. At this point, however, I''d like to know if anyone also requires that the determination of whether we meet on Saturday or Sunday be known prior to...say...August 1st (as Kaleigh''s requirements have changed). Personally, since people''s needs and schedules change with some frequency, I''m not in favor of firming something up arbitrarily, if there''s not a perceived need to do this. But, if people do need to know prior to 8/1, I''d like to know now (either on this board, or as a pm). Still, tomorrow I''ll share the best info I have.

Thanks!

I''m open.

Actually, I think for me the sooner plans are firm the better. I just double checked the date of an August appointment that I have and it is for Saturday, August 20th. The appointment can be changed if we still plan to meet on Saturday, but the sooner I know the better chance I will have of rescheduling. Sunday still looks wide open for me.

Is this a private social or open to anyone who loves diamonds. I live in area and would not mind stopping in for some eats and to chat about diamonds. I am sure my fiance would love to show her new ring off.

Everyone is welcome!

Hmm, so Saturday meet for lunch and relaxing, then sunday the gem show. This all taking place on August 20th and 21st. Sounds like fun. Any more information going around? Would love to put some screen names with some faces. I have been browsing the forum for a long time, but unable to post because my fiance was lurking around here and I did not want to give anything away.

Actually, though the Gem show is happening over 3 days -- and so you can spend as much time as you want there -- I'll take the opportunity a bit short of the 72 hour window for discussion to run up the flag what looks like the intended suggestion to make firm tomorrow the plan we're concocting is for us to have approximately one half day session, making that:

Sunday, running from 11 - 4, with lunch at 12:30

Rockingout, look for a pm to show you the planned location for lunch.

Regards,

Sounds like you guys will have a blast! I''m in Atlanta, so too far for a drive.

I am interested in the Land''s End polo style "Pricescope" logo shirt!!! Is Leonid up for providing the logo to Land''s End? Sounds like a really simple process for ordering with going to Land''s End direct. I also like having a choice of colors!!! Leonid could also put a link to the Land''s End website with the shirt for purchase on the front page of the forum.

Great ideas...everybody!!

Hopefully so, and stay tuned vis-a-vis that shirt.

Meanwhile, barring the unexpected (stay in touch, guys), let''s plan for...

Sunday, 11 - 4, break at 12:30 for lunch.

I''ll update the beginning of the thread for newcomers.

Best wishes to all as the summer unfolds,

Anyone interested: I get quite a few FREE tickets to the shows in the mail. I hope to go to the show in Timonium tomorrow so I''ll try to get a few extras. Anyone who would like to save the $7 entry fee, PM me and I''ll mail out as many tickets as I get. Each ticket is good for 2 people.

Seeing there may be new folks on board from DC, I''m bumping this forward.

Bumped again since we are getting closer.

was a shirt ever decided on? wasn''t sure, i wasn''t really following that too much. in terms of ordering and stuff like that it is starting to get close.

Yes what ever happened with the whole shirt idea. If I can''t make it can I still order one???

No idea about the shirts. I''m sure it''s not a simple task. Ira?

Yes, I think any pscope members can order a shirt (when they are available).

Pricescope may know more than Ira. I think it is ultimately up to them??

I for one still really want a shirt...I just didnt want to nag people.... PRETTY PLEASE with a cherry on top!

Hi All! I definitely plan to be there on Sunday and am looking forward to meeting everyone - is there any news about the shirts?

A few items...

1) unless Leonid and Irina have any thoughts in mind I''m not mindful of, at this point downstream in the planning for this gathering, I think shirts will not be part of this particular event. If anyone has any interesting alternate thoughts vis-a-vis establishing recognition for each other...as for example...tying a neckerchief around ones arm...that is welcome.

2) we''re two weeks away...perhaps in one week I''ll make reservations for those I can count that are planning to come. I should have been in touch with each of you already who has written here about plans for lunch, and haven''t heard a vote to the contrary, so I think that is on. Maybe after I re-post, per #4 below, or by mid-week, you can pm me to tell me that, based on your best information, you''ll confirm and plan to join us for lunch.

3) Since we''re all free men & women, and time has passed...I''ll just ask one more time about the scheduling of the day. Though Saturday is a preference for me, I''ve heard enough to understand that Sunday works better for at least several, and that''s reason enough for me to leave it at Sunday, to make it work for us. If your circumstance has for some reason changed, however, (and time and circumstances may have certainly changed for any of us) write me, or this thread, and it''s all right with me if we re-assess. However, the default is Sunday.

4) Perhaps based on hearing or not from others on point 3, I should post a new thread within 48 hours with a title less obscure than "Who needs Vegas...," just allowing those others in the DC area who would seem to be unlikely to rip us off to join us (sorry guys, I warranty nothing here.....however, if you think on this point alone, no new post should be made...why don''t you pm me on that, too).

Regards,

Hmm... so a gem show.... can you BUY diamonds there too? or is it just an exhibition?... sorry never been to a gem show before......

Coconut (and my other friends here),

You can read about it here.

I haven't been either, but the hope is that is may be a personal opportunity to go trinket shopping, learn a bit about how to shop, and perhaps make acquaintance with some of the people I've been talking with for now, in my case, a baker's dozen of months.

Regards,

I''ve been away on vacation and gave myself a vacation from PS too. Talk about withdrawal

I''ll be at the show and meeting for sure. MissGotRocks and I will be together.

Nice link, Ira. I have been attending these shows for more than 10 year and am very familiar with most of the vendors highlited in the article. I''ve purchased from several of them and have nothing but good things to say of my experiences. Like the article states, you always have to be *careful* when purchasing jewelry, whether from a local B&M, internet vendor, or a vendor at the show. Some people have the impression that the items sold at these shows are second-rate goods or poor-quality stones which is not the case at all.
