Hi all!
I am looking for someone to make a 3 stone setting for my 2.5ct oval. I’m thinking epaulettes as sides. I reached out to DK but his response time is so long and that makes me nervous. Anyone else you’d recommend in the meantime?
Thanks!

Would you be able to wait until after the first of the year? Everyone is slammed right now.

Oh yeah, of course! I am just looking for quotes and ideas essentially. And recommendations of who does good work :$

Out of the commonly recommended vendors I’ve used Sako, DK, & IDJ. IDJ made a band for me but it was really pretty. I bought and returned loose diamonds from I&R - I know they make settings but I’ve never used them for that. I thought they were really nice though.

I personally think that for the price, DK is worth the wait. I’m not a patient person but I understand that at his pricing, the guy is probably just always busy. Sako was the quickest in terms of response time for me - but my project took a bit (my fault) and because of that a couple things got missed + it ended up costing about $500 more than initially quoted. This was when gold prices shot up so I figured it was prob that. I have a project with DK now. Very happy with how it’s turning out. But I didn’t plan for it to be done until mid Jan so it’s not like I feel rushed.

If you know exactly what you want, and do not need a designer, I think that DK is a good choice. In my view and some people may disagree with me, DK is not a designer that you can go to and have them create something for you. You need to have a set vision, with pictures to go off of, and be able to read CADs. If you really don't know what you want with the three stone, as far as all the details go, I don't think he's the best choice. If you have a very clear direction of what you want and you just need someone to do the CAD and then make it, it's not a bad option.

ETA: I have worked with DK, OWD, CvB, Sako, and others.

I think it depends on what style you want. If you know exactly what you want it to look like, then DK would be a good fit.

If you want an antique vibe and top-of-the-line hand forging, then Victor Canera.

If you love the style of CvB, go to the source.

If you’re all about delicate pave everything, Maytal Hannah.

Antique style, Sako.

On a budget, Daniel M.

Thank you! I think I’m going to be patient and go with DK. I know exactly what I want and he seems to have the best prices AND beautiful rings. Happy Holidays!!

I'm sure he is backed up on requests. I contacted him in late October for a project (which I am VERY happy with and he was a complete pleasure to work with) and he replied within 24 hours. Of course this was before the holidays.

You won't be disappointed. I used one of this designs and tweaked some parts of it and I'm so excited to receive my ring

If it is any consolation, the first time I reached out to DK it took a little while to hear back from him.

Once I started the project, I heard from him within 24hrs and he was a delight to work with. The whole project, with a few CAD changes, took 3 weeks start to finish before it was on my hot little hand.

FYI he also sent a label for me to ship my stone for him - I recommend you do that too, it will be far cheaper.

Definitely would sit tight if you can handle it. Even shipping a diamond right now would make me nervous - given the influx of packages, on top of regular COVID shipping BS, too many lost packages. My UPS / USPS delivery is also generally unreliable in my area so take that with a grain of salt
