Who wants to see my haul from today?

@AnastasiaBeaverhausen just for reference this is what I test drove:

2020 Honda Passport
2018 Nissan Murano
2018 Nissan Pathfinder
2018 Toyota Highlander
2017 Acura RDX

We ruled out the Nissans because they have CVT transmission which is sometimes prone to problems. The Acura was amazing, it had a technology package and it was a favorite. However we read that some Acuras can accelerate suddenly or lose power suddenly (RDX and MDX)
2018 Mazda CX-5. The Passport was nice but too expensive, the Highlander is a good solid choice but kind of boring. The CX-9 won us over because as my husband says “it’s like driving a couch”. Really comfortable and lots of bells and whistles, it handles really nicely too.

@stracci2000, yes the push button is strange! We are in the process of looking at anti-theft devices on top of the alarm on the car because of relay theft. It seems like a steering wheel lock along with the bags you can put your keys in to prevent radio waves from being emitted may be a good combo.

I like the backup camera how about you? What do you drive? I know you have told me before but my memory is shot!

Good call- my sister had an Acura and had power issues with it so I have stayed away. Congrats!!!

@FL_runner, it’s a shame because they are beautiful cars with so much potential. It would have been a solid contender if not for those faults.

I do like the back-up camera.
It's a 2016 Nissan Rogue. It was affordable, but it needed a brake job, so we had to fix that.
Then it was vibrating on the highway. We made several trips to Firestone for tire balancing, but the problem was still occurring.
I finally took it to my favorite Jiffy Lube where they have a master mechanic. He said that one tire is out of round. What a relief! I was so worried that there was something bad wrong with the car! So he re-balanced it.
But eventually I will have to have the two back tires replaced.
I hate cars!

@stracci2000, I like the Rogue, it’s a sharp looking car. With cars it’s just always something but you can’t get much of anywhere in CT without one unfortunately. Speaking of brakes, I had just put over 1K into the Highlander for some brake problem, that was November/December of 2020. Makes me ill, I thought I would have it for a couple more years.

@bling_dream19 thank you so much! I love an eternity so much I’ve sold most of my other bands. I was lucky to find one in my size :)

@YadaYadaYada what a wonderful single cut band. That is really special. Enjoy looking at your twinkles.

Very nice car too. I like the style. Enjoy your plushy drive!

I posted this in Colored Stones, but I wanted to put it here, too.
This doesn't compare to Stephanie's new car.
But.....
Look what I found in the Salvation Army store today!
Color change sapphire....$10....
I couldn't leave it there!

@stracci2000, Ha! I wish I still had my old car and a cool sapphire, at least I wouldn’t have a car payment! Thank you for the anniversary wishes!

@Mreader @lala646
Believe me, finding a loose sapphire in the Salvation Army thrift store and was a first for me!

You see, my job keeps me on the road all day, criss crossing my city. So inevitably, I pass by multiple thrift stores daily.
If I have time, I pop in to the better ones. So maybe it is a matter of frequency, and keeping my eyes peeled for the good stuff!

Wondering if this was one of you? =)2
I mean it would be sooooo awsome if it was a PSer !
$35 - went for a million

I wish! This was sold in my state in New Haven CT. Not anywhere near the most affluent part of our state, in fact quite the opposite.

Stephanie! You missed that yard sale!
I would have been put off by the $35 price tag.

I would like to see the bottom and sides. Why do they never show those angles???
Edit--I just found those views on the Sotheby's website.

It does look like an exceptional piece. I think a collector would know right away that it was a very fine object. As for knowing the age and value, that would involve serious research.

@stracci2000, this isn’t even something that I would pick up. It’s cool but I don’t typically go for glass or anything breakable. Might have to reconsider going forward ;)

I set the sapphire today.
I re-purposed a vintage promise ring by putting a prong head on it. The color change is really interesting.822905822909822910822911822913822912

Its a bit sad for the person who had owned it if one of their kid's was disposing of their estate

I wonder how long that stone has been waiting around in that little box to finally become a piece of jewlery ?
I hope she gets to go on lots of outtings with you and enjoys the conpany she finds her self in on your hand

I agree. People that don’t have an appreciation for old things just see them as old junk and not worth anything. It’s sad on one hand but then there are people who see the value and appreciate these treasures and I think those people will always exist.

Absolutely
And a happy ending for that little bowl that worse case sinarero could have ended up at the tip
(I would have probably designated it as a cat bowl)

The bit of cotton in the box looked pretty old.....so it's been in there for a while!

She's going to work with me tomorrow, her first day out of that box!

Like a 4x4 finally be allowed to play in the mud :kiss2:
