Who wants to see my haul from today?

Haha, Daisy! I guess you approve!!!

yip !
when you first showed them to us this is what i hoped you would do because they just looked so good all together - that thing where the whole is greater than the of the parts is so true

I will wear them as soon as this heat wave passes. It's been so hot.....I don't like beads on a sticky neck!

totally get this
i brought a fun (aka mall jewler) 3 stand pearl necklace thinking it would be fun to wear in summer / to the beach !
now i say - if its cold and rainy its a pearl day :lol-2:

Yes, a heavy bead necklace can be so annoying in warm weather!

ive only started wearing beads/ pearls in the last 5 years - they always used to give me a headache
but now i have so many gemstone bead necklace projects on the go and summers are now 5 months of the year i dont know when i will wear them all :lol-2:
i couldn't even stand a braclete last summer - i went for a walk and got 3 doors down and I'd already taken it off

At the thrift store, I found this bag of junk mixed jewelry. I could see some goodies in there......
IMG_20220727_130017534.jpg

Inside were 3 pairs of sterling earrings, and the hoops are 10k! They are a big and sassy, but I wore them yesterday and I liked them!

If you look closely, you can see striations and growth lines in it.
Here is a photo after I attached the clasp.
(The bottom photo is more accurate for color, and was taken before I restrung it. You can clearly see the lines in each bead )

Score! The hoops are a great size! And I really like the middle sterling pair!

Got this two tone band today, it is 14k, obviously well worn and loved but these are so hard to find. I actually have another two tone band but it’s too big, I’ve thought about resizing since it’s in such good shape.

Anyways, the thought crossed my mind that maybe the engraving could be restored? It would be like starting from scratch really vs restoring what is there. Maybe DK could do it? Or maybe just leave it as is. Just thoughts, what do you guys think?

What a nice find! It would be wonderful to see the engraving refurbished.
I have no idea what it would cost to refresh the engraving, but maybe more than you paid for the ring?

Hmmm, possibly, well it makes a nice little stacker as is for now and maybe down the road I’ll see about having it restored.

Fyi, I've heard DK has an awesome engraver for a fairly reasonable price.

@AnastasiaBeaverhausen, if I want this route, he would be the guy I would go to. After seeing his engraving in person, I know the level of awesome he could make this band.

Cool! Do you think it would be a good idea to send a signet ring to be engraved? Like, you think this engraver would be a good choice for that?

I’m not sure if DK uses multiple engravers, you might want to ask and see. I know some jewelers have different levels of benches they work with but not sure about engravers. Whoever worked on my ring did a great job.

I decided to take my whole eBay haul to the grocery store today! The ring finger is Soviet rose gold, and I'm absolutely in love with the peachiness that it shows in the sun! I'd love to find someone who could use a similar alloy to make a custom band to go with it! PXL_20220730_222913619.PORTRAIT.jpg

@nala, the goblet is fantastic but where are the jewels?? Most of what you buy is vintage or antique and you could share it here! We want to see the jewels AND the goblet lol!

All so beautiful, love the Soviet ring and that pink stone in the buttercup setting!

Friends, I am so sad, today I found out that one of my favorite sellers locally passed away back in March. Didn’t even realize it has been that long since we went back to that indoor flea market.

I did end up buying a pin from her booth but was just really out of sorts about the news. Joan’s booth was just a small corner but loaded with bins and bins of this and that. Today in one of those bins I found this abalone pin made in Japan. I’ll also share my two favorite things from her, a Bohl’s liquor bottle with a dancing ballerina that plays music and this black mother of pearl pendant (needs a bale still). RIP Joan.

Thank you for the special invite! I so will! This past Wednesday I stopped by my favorite pawn shop and I found a mini fridge for my classrooom. The pawn shop owner is sooo sweet even tho I just met him earlier this year. I was eyeing a ring and I asked him for a combo deal. He said ok, buy the ring get the mini fridge for free! The fridge was tagged at 40 bucks and the ring 150 and my out the door price was 150! Not an antique but I love it! Here it is. The heart! Diamond halo 14k and I suspect it’s Morganite.

Pretty morganite ring @nala, love that it’s heart-shaped.

I think that pair is vintage Mexican. They are heavy!

I’d agree, and the top pair looks to be American Indian. Nice find all around!

I was thinking NA, too. I think the green stone is gaspeite.
