I remember someone here was looking for a street lantern image for their invitations, but I can''t find the thread. Well, I was browsing through the ''net looking for centerpiece ideas and candleholders, when I found this: http://www.100candles.com/Items/Item_3469.htm

Wow how appropriate. It looks just like her invitation. Sorry I can''t remember either. Maybe she will see the thread? Really great find. Very thoughtful of you to post it! §

It was Musey-hopefully she''ll see this.

Ooh, me, me!

We're currently planning to have moroccan lanterns on the tables, which was the original plan, I just didn't know if we could pull it off

Thank you for posting, though! I might price both to see... hmm... I like moroccan lanterns better in theory, but I think in practice the park lanterns might work better.

Decisions, decisions!

We are doing a park theme, also! I really like these lanterns, though I''m not sure whether I will go with the streetlight type or just regular lanterns.

Musey and enb, are you planning to buy your own lanterns or get them through the florist? I haven''t talked to any florists yet for decor, but I think it may be cheaper to just buy candleholders, etc on my own. Any thoughts on that?

I am having the florists price everything out. I have just started interviewing them (see my panicked post of earlier today). One of the florists wasn''t crazy about the street lanterns, but would do some little lanterns hanging from branches (we are planning to do at least some of the centerpieces with branches of some kind). I''m excited about either b/c we are in a planetarium, so there will be stars above and lanterns of some sort on the table.
I''d rather let them source everthing since I just don''t have the time, but at least one florist welcomed me finding the non-flower items I wanted, so I don''t think she''d charge me any more than whatever cost I found. The other issue is whether the florist will be willing to set up stuff that you didn''t get from them. Because of the logistics of the evening, I can''t set up the tables, so that would be important. Some florists also have the stuff on hand (one I saw this week had these amazing tall rectangular lanterns).
Candles might be cheaper to buy in bulk on your own, but I don''t know. We have to use LED lights because it is a museum. I am actually a little relieved at not having live fire on the tables. I don''t see any point in our buying a few hundred LED lights that we will never use again.
Bottom line is I would see how much they charge, and ask if they''d be willing to work with your materials. Then if you have time to shop around for pricing, you can use that either to negotiate the price or to save some $ if they''re willing to work with what you''ve got.
We will have to share samples once we get to that point!
