I had this discussion with my newly engaged friend whom we have decided IS more attractive than her beau. Of course this is just perception, as none of this is measureable, but it''s interesting to know...um...sociologically speaking of course!

This does make me think of the "Average Joe" shows. Each time the "beautiful" ladies picked a "cute" guy who wasn't particularly personable. Each time the "average" Joe's who were sweet & caring were left in the lurch. Interesting sociological study indeed!

Hah! Pretty is as pretty does. I look good some of the time. Other times I look downright scary. Same with my better half. Sometimes he's adorable. Other times he's frightening. So I put that we are equal.

Some good, some bad, all the time.

Hah! This is too funny. Well, my husband looks pretty much the same all the time. He has curly, salt & pepper hair that look the same whether he just rolled out of bed or the shower. Me, on the other hand . . . well . . . few have seen me without my "face" on. I may scare someone!

Diamondlil, hee hee! I have yet to find mine...and with my hair in this bizarre growing out phase, I am SURe it's not from behind (terrible pony tail stage)...




Answering truthfully, my BF has the prettiest...well everything!. I saw pretty because he has these big wide brown eyes and LONG eye lashes that are so beautiful, and my poor eyelashes never look like his, ever WITH super-duper mascara!

He has perfect lips, and as odd as this is, he has really beautiful hands and feet! I hate feet, and never has there been a MAN with nice feet, but he really does...

Sometimes I would say he's definately the looker, but sometimes he says I am. I like that both of us think the other one is, because we meet in the middle and admit to eachother we are BOTH too good for eachother, so we might as well be together! *insert sappy gagging here*

I think the longer you're married you start to look like each other! After 19 years of marriage, my husband is getting better looking, so I would have to say I was the better looking one for the first 10 years of marriage but now it is equal!

Nicrez, your hair is in the growing-out stage, and I am in the time-to-get shorter stage. I'm fast approaching 40, and I have a *thing* about getting older and having long hair. Up until recently, my hair was down to my waist. I had a foot of it cut off for charity (Locks of Love), and I've been slowly going shorter ever since. I think I'll give it another 10 years before I go any shorter than this.

Pretty can be a curse.

That said, my husband is really a man's man. Nothing pretty about him. Big imposing gentle giant w/ full red beard & a head of tosseled hair. I'm not proud to say that I *always* look more together than he does. But, I've always found that rogueish devil may care way about men sexy. Sometimes I have to watch him as he can go too far. Funny I have ALWAYS liked older men, and consistently dated men almost twice my age (YIPES!), but I met my guy, and he's only a year older! And we normally don't have our vain moments, as we need to get more exercise more often....but I distinctly remember him looking at me one morning and saying, "honey, I am so lucky to have someone like you!" and my response which this very casual tone and totally NOT my usual blushing complimented manner, was "That's right, you are!"




I don't think we both laughed that hard since!!!

Greg can dress up in a nice suit for work with my fave red tie that I gave him, and look dashing, dapper...all the cool D words I can think of. A real doll. All hairs in place, smooth shaven...

Just as easily, he can also put on his gross overalls with his equally gross plaid flannel workcoat (which I had to wrestle away to wash) and big brown boots and go tinker in the garage, scaring our new preppy neighbors, and making a racket to wake the dead. Unshaven, all hairs out of place. yuck!




So yeah there is the good, the bad, and the really ugly...for both of us!!!

I am sure I have my not-quite-so-charming moments as well.

Thanks Mara and Nic. You know, Nic, he's only 3 1/2 years older...but he's got the whole greying hair thing going on! And we don't always dress alike. This was Christmas night. We were getting ready to go out and I said, "Hey we look like twins, take our picture!"

As for who looks better, looks are a subjective thing. I think I'm lucky and I guess he thinks he's lucky. It's all about what is your "type." He's mine.

You are both lucky! He reminds me of a coworker I had who was married to a lovely lady, but since we never saw her in all the years he worked there, we teased him that he was still single and just pretended to be married. I suppose that's what all the girls HOPED...Your hubby has the sweetest smile, and looks like a very friendly cheerful guy...I LOVE that! Sad thing when people are grumpy people.

Actually, I LOVE grey hair on men...my guy has a few strands here and there (probably from ME!) and BOY does he go NUTS about them! He threatened to get them colored!!! LOL!! When men go grey, some actually get more interesting looking!!! If they keep smiling, they DO get better looking!!!

LOL, Nic, you crack me up! I'll pass on your words to my hubby. His hair is really short in that picture. I like the grey and as he says, "At least I still have hair!" He had jet black hair when we met. (He's part Cherokee.) I'm sure he blames me for the grey...along with our two daughters.

*LOL* I just got my hair cut yesterday till it's about 2 inches long, and sticking straight up!

Funny thing was, I had all these HS kids hitting on me today...here I am old enough to be their Granny!
