float the Middle Fork of the Salmon river! I expect to be back in the office on Tuesday the 21st of June. I hope you all have as much fun next week as I will! I have a picture of me on my trip two years ago at a place call Pistol Creek. You can not really see it from this picture, but the current from the entire river is coming together and smashing against a cliff wall, makes for a great fun ride if you can ride the pillow and avoid the wall!

Hint, it helps if you are sitting forward in your boat, not slightly back like I was. I made it, but only barely...

P.S. My wife just gave me a compact water resistant camera that I can wear while kayaking, I hope to have some great photos to share with you when I get back.

Have a wonderful trip and we'll see you when you get back!!!

ETA: Be safe!!

Hey Wink,

A friend of ours described our get-together in Vegas last week like being in the center of a hurricane. And now, you are off to enjoy this.

What is it with you? Do you really need all this excitement?

Trust me, the rest of the year will be boring.

Enjoy,

Wink, have a safe and wonderful trip. Hope to see some great pictures when you return.

Hey Wink!
I''ve been meaning to send you a note of thanks for letting me tag along with you for a little while in Vegas. I really enjoyed getting to know you! I hope you have a great kayaking trip and come back safely!
Best regards,
Bill Scherlag

Ah... stay behind me green eyes monster!!! Have a wonderful trip... can''t wait to see some pics!

Wink:

I know that recreational kayaking is an exciting sport - and all the rage.

However, I''d like to see you in a slalom race. You should give it a try. Learn to navigate the gates to even a modest level and you will greatly enhance your recreational paddling because of what you will learn.

Let me know if you get into racing and I''ll see if I can pop out west to judge the race. No favors though - I call races fair and square (it been a few years since I have gone out west to judge).

Enjoy your trip.

I dunno about that...it looks like you have your hands full without even thinking about taking a picture! Hopefully we won''t get a set of pictures showing a canyon wall, then a closer shot of a canyon wall, then a smashed kayak on a canyon wall!!!!

LOL, just be safe and have a lot of fun!!!!

Thanks all. Just popped in for a quick good bye, coffee is perking and I am raring to go, leave in about half an hour. Perry, I did some slalom a few years ago and got certified to judge so that I could travel with my son and judge races. He came in second in the Western regionals one year in HUGE Spring run off but his boat broke in two during his first run in the Nationals.

I agree, even my modest ability at slalom made me a much better down river boater. I still run a few gates every year.

Wink

That''s great Wink.

Enjoy your trip.

Well...are you back? Are you posting somewhere that I am not reading? How was the trip?
