When I saw this, my jaw just dropped. It''s gorgeous but is it worth it? Is it practical? How on earth am I going to set it?
It''s a whopping 70.77 carats and is loupe clean. From Bolivia. Measurements are 30.1x26.7x17.67.

It''s beautiful! But probably not very pratical... You could use it as a paperweight!

I love the variation of color in that stone! I have no idea what you would do with a 70 carat stone... a huge pendant??

What is it?

I know. Yeah, but with a pendant that size, I think my neck will be pulled down by the weight.

Oh, I forgot to mention that it's an Ametrine. Not the usual ones that I normally find.

Where do you normally find your gems?

Terima kasih!

Maybe a keychain! Or a paperweight like Mustang gal suggested... hmm...

It''s really beautiful. But other than use it as a decorative accessory like a paper wieght, I can''t image a use for it. Still, it would make a GREAT paperweight, and when you were bored or frustrated you could pick it up and stare at it. I like it.

How about a nice sceptre?

You''ve got to be pulling our PS legs to ask for setting ideas for a 70+c pear

Tiara or crown?

uh. keep in mind 70.7 carats is really only equal to .5 ounces.

not nearly equivalent enough for a 2-pound paper weight...
(you would need 64 of them to make one)

edit: i'd buy it.

Okay here''s what I''d do.... I''d kill two of the best birds in this thread and throw in a third for that *one* stone LOL

How about a letter opener that can act like a paperweight and have it in the shape of a sceptre! I''d set it in something that let light in from behind like in an airline bezel that had several prongs that kinda reached out and grabbed the stone in some really interesting scrollwork.... hehe I love it!!!!!

it would be the literal crowning jewel in a paperweight of metal though.... how about 2 pounds of platinum haha - okay yeah I''m kidding. How about silver? LOL

there ya go! I personally think I would LOVE to have a silver and gorgeous multi-hued gem letter opener, paper weight, sceptre on my desk... now, can I afford one?

Harriet, are you Indonesian? I recognise that as meaning thank you.

I am too lazy to make it nice but i would set it into the bangle like a watch

WOW!!

What an incredible stone...I like Irina''s idea ;)

You get a lot of bang for your buck with ametrine, so even if you purchased it now, you could always decide what to do with it later. I think it''s a gorgeous gem, and even if you never set it in anything, sometimes it''s just worth it to keep in your collection. I think it would make a gorgeous pendant, and you could set it in silver to avoid the huge cost of the gold. I think it would hang gorgeous on a silver neck collar. The thing that I love the most about that ametrine is that it''s not a 50/50 split between the amethyst and citrine color, it''s kind of zoned between the two, and that gives it a mysterious appeal. It doesn''t shout, "look I''m an ametrine", and people have to guess what it is.

I agree, what i like about it also it's a saturation of those colors, if it's a good photo then it's amazing.

I agree...but I''d really want to see it IRL..

Irina...I love the idea of a cuff bracelet. But I assume your rendering is in proportion? If so, it''s still pretty big!!

Did I miss it? What are the mm dimensions?

Not that big..............

Search the site with the word.... Godzilla - if you want to see big.

70 carats is "wearable". However there are no settings made in a "stock size" that large and would have to be made custom.

It''s all academic now -- someone bought it yesterday. If it''s one of you folks, ''fess up now and tell us what your plans are! I almost bought it as a specimen but was a little late.
