Oh that 3.34 ct honker is only 1???
It''s a beauty.

DF, well I guess your Toyota truck was less than $26,500

My jeweler just told me last week that I could get $5,000 more for my 3.01 H, SI2 today over 6 mos ago because there so few 2+ ct goods on the market (that whole DeBeers releasing stones thing), especially since it is so clean.

Of course, I said "Not interested!"

the sad thing about these price increase is that you can''t even do a upgrade, because with the $26,500 trade in credit from the vendor, that wouldn''t buy me anything close compare to a year ago. here;s a perfect example: GOG has an identical weight stone as mine a 3.34 ct I VS1. the price is $40K, i would have to fork over an extra $13,500

going from a H SI1 to a I VS1 stone.

DF, I''d pick your H-SI1 over an I-VS1 any day (if the cut were the same).

the increases are sooo depressing, esp since as DF noted ... upgrading becomes much more difficult with these new prices.

in light of these huge increases, it'd be nice if vendors would change their policy to give you market value on your stone rather than what you paid...but i guess it would also go the other way, aka it could lose value...but since we only see increases on the horizon, i'd much rather have market value the day of upgrade than what i paid....of course!

i figured that when i traded in my 1.29 H SI stone that it would probably be relisted on WF's site for sale for more than my trade in value, so sad! oh well..such is the game of diamond upgrading.

there''s no reason to even think about an upgrade now,it was when i first bought the H si1 3.34ct,i thought about trading it in for teh 3.02ct I vs1.the difference would of been $1550 more for going up 2 clarity grade but, going down 1 color + losing .32ct weight.

yeah,i feel like my stone haven't gone up a dime in the pass 12 months.
8.gif
even IF the diamond market where to go down 30% today,it would probably take 1 1/2 yr to work down the food chain to get to the consumer level.

the sad part about it, i''m still looking for the right 2.5 ct H VS2 stone to come along.
39.gif
with the big price increase it''s making me think twice.

i talk to Brian from WF yesterday, he said 2+ cts will go up another 20% in the next few months.
